The Office of Personnel Management is asking insurers that cover federal employees and retirees to hand over details about their medical visits, their pharmacy claims, and more. cbsn.ws/4tBfdJ7

@55MMAC @chaboard2 @CBSNews Those crying foul about this article, are doing so, because what is happening is illegal. What you keep referencing was not illegal, nor a HIPAA violation. So again, what are you confused about? Why would they cry foul 4 years ago about a totally unrelated -legal- scenario?
English

@arronHimself69 @chaboard2 @CBSNews Vac record is PHI, determined by the EEOC as not illegal for emplouers to request. Fed at the time determined this. And those who refused (or didn't have) were fired. Those crying foul about this article stayed silent 4-5 years ago when this happened.
English

@55MMAC @chaboard2 @CBSNews Correct, because it wasn’t a HIPAA violation. I’m not sure what the confusion is
English

@OldSaltNewPeppa @CBSNews For hiring. But along came covid and so many employers (and the military) required EXISTING employees (and sevice men/women) to get the vac or face termination. Proof was vac record which is PHI.
English

@55MMAC @CBSNews Employers requesting or requiring proof of vaccination status (or mandating vaccinations as a condition of employment) has occurred for decades, long before COVID-19 vaccines existed. HHS/OCR confirmed that employers could request vaccine status. No new exception was created.
English

@martha_stickle @CBSNews How am I wrong? I welcome intelligent debate.
Btw yes, I am broken, a sinner. But.saved by the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.
English

@KaladinSB0311 @mtsand3 @CBSNews Um...vac was supposed to prevent covid infection, stop.the spread. It did neither. Shame on you. Open your eyes, do some research.
English

@phadetheplex @CBSNews Absolutely not. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of those crying foul for.this when they stayed silent while so many 4 and 5 years ago lost their jobs because they didn't have proof of covid vac....because they refused the vac.
English

@OldSaltNewPeppa @Squish43172398 @CBSNews Of course! And who determined that? EEOC. The federal government.
English

@55MMAC @Squish43172398 @CBSNews You’re on the Internet. You can actually look up whether it was a HIPAA violation or not when non-government employers asked for proof of vaccination.

@arronHimself69 @chaboard2 @CBSNews Proof of vaccination by employers was deemed not illegal by the EEOC, and employers took advantage of that and when employees refused, they were fired. Personally know many.
English

@55MMAC @chaboard2 @CBSNews Here. Asking for you to prove your vaccination status is not a HIPAA violation. Stealing your vaccination status from your medical records is a HIPAA violation. Hope this helps.
English

@Deb67088601 @SenrabG @CBSNews Provide valid proof, please. Know many who were vaccinated yet still infected.
English

@OldSaltNewPeppa @CBSNews Right. As determined by HHS. Specifically through the OCR.
In other words, the government at tgat time determined it was not illegal for employers to require proof of the covid vac.
English

@55MMAC @CBSNews Not a violation for non-govt employers to require proof of vaccination. HIPAA applies only to covered entities (health care plans) & their associates when they handle PHI. Employers are not covered entities when acting as employer. Info in employment records is excluded from PHI.
English

@chaboard2 @CBSNews For Pete's sake can't anyone have an intellectual debate without vulgar slurs???
English

@55MMAC @Samhain442 @CBSNews I have had metal scopes up my nose all the way into my sinuses on many occasions and I have never once bled from that. Hard to believe a Q Tip could cause that, so yes I'm sure that was an isolated incident...if it even happened.
