Yeah the battle usually comes down to how long it is, and whether or not Doom was prepared for Mag. If the random encounter fight is drawn on for awhile it gives Doom more time to think on what to do with his magic. If Mag is able to end it quickly he walks away with a victory. If Doom was expecting Mag though he will have something there or a plan to remove him from the equation. Mags pretty smart too so he could be aware. Dooms weakness is his ego so he wouldn’t ever think Mag could have a plan that counters his

@Godfather0fX It is an insane feat, no one's denying that. But if we're using feats, then let's use everyone's feats.Magneto has manipulated planetary magnetic fields, EMP'd advanced tech and controlled the iron in people's bodies. You can't gas up one character's best moment and ignore others

The Odyssey is now up to $328M in six days. Chris Nolan's first flop. It's a damn shame.

@Master17Simp @Leonida_GTA6 @vrillain0 No I think you are. He won’t be able to do anything against doom or the sentinels other than be an annoying gnat. Comparing him and Hawkeye (both humans) is fine, but comparing Doom to the aliens Hawkeye fought as an example of what Sam can do is crazy work

Yeah I worded it wrong. I meant like if you include the marketing then the total cost would be like 1.5 to 2 times the production budget. I think 850-950 would be a success. I sort of over exaggerated the 1 billion. That would only be necessary if Variety was actually incorrect on the marketing cost and it’s actually closer to 100% of the production budget like it could possibly be I’m also aware of post theatrical, and merchandising. I just don’t think that the main profit factor would be merchandising for this film though. It’s not a transformers movie or a superhero movie that’ll sell crazy amounts of toys, clothes, etc. but it will still definitely sell some. Plus banking on that stuff usually means your film wasn’t the financial success it needed to be I should also add I’m not wishing the movie fails, I plan to see it I’ve just been working a lot

@BatsyOnHere @twss007 @JaceLabrada @cmclymer if Odyssey ends up doing something like $850–950 million globally, it would be viewed as a major financial success, especially once post-theatrical revenue is included. The idea that it has to reach > $1 billion to justify its existence is more opinion than real numbers

Which if you do the math it means the odyssey needs 750 million just to recoup the cost. In order for it to be considered a profit though they likely need more. Don’t forget that just because 1 million over is technically a profit, it’s not enough to cover the actual cost to run the business. Like property, employees, etc.

Care to explain? I may have worded it poorly but it’s a known thing that marketing is typically 50%-100% of the production budget. Meaning the total cost comes to 1.5x-2x the cost of the production budget. Variety has reported that The Odyssey had a marketing cost of 125 million. That’s exactly 50% of the 250 million production budget. Total cost comes to 375 million. It’s also known that theaters take a percentage of the revenue. They have to. They need money to function. It typically averages out to 50% for domestic and 60-70% for global. But for the sake of argument I just say 50% all around

@JXT42636180 @planetasiaa Even then I still don’t think the 17th played damage would automatically outsell the others. I think if they put the effort into the other characters they’d sell even more

@jelomu92 @HollowayMack @FindXSnowflakes @cmclymer No one is crying. I’m literally just trying to help people understand how movie cost and profit works. I always see a lot of misinformation. I plan to see the movie myself on my next day off lmao

@Mofiah12 @twss007 @JaceLabrada @cmclymer It’s just a common known thing that came from insiders and experts just because my screenshot was of AI doesn’t mean you couldn’t just do a little research yourself and find that information

@mimodow93 @twss007 @JaceLabrada @cmclymer But we also know this means the theaters will usually take a higher percentage for the following weeks. It usually balances out. Plus we also know that global theaters take a higher percentage too

@BatsyOnHere @twss007 @JaceLabrada @cmclymer The thing is that theatres keep 50% on average, but for example on opening weekends they may get substantially less (10-20%). So the Odyssey is banking quite a lot of that amount now.

@HollowayMack @jelomu92 @FindXSnowflakes @cmclymer During situations like this the following weeks the theaters get a higher percentage. That’s why it’s a general rule of thumb. Global markets usually take a larger percentage too. Domestic theaters are around 50% but global theaters can be up to 70% over the whole duration.
