@TJStats Burns with a 9 point lead over a guy like Leiter is rather ridiculous.

@Njbeacbum45 @Super70sSports For a small sliver of time perhaps, but can't bounce back and forth between the nerds loving a fake stat like WAR, then also accuse them of ignoring it just to shake fists

Sometimes I think we just value the wrong things as sports fans. Willie McGee hit 79 homers in 18 years and he was more fun and exciting than a clown car full of 30-homer steroid freaks.

@shegone03 @uTeeBaseball @TheJudge44 @MLB These careers are going to ultimately look so different they'll be apples to oranges... But the fact Judge is only ten points off Rose's average while supplying all that power makes it easy to pick him every day of the week over Pete in a fictional all-time draft.

@AnthonyDiComo No science to back it, but I feel like these teams are insane with how conservative they are about challenges. Starters are already up against it with the tightest zone in history, but now you further screw them by not aggressively help them cut down pitch count, traffic, etc?

Worth noting that neither Francisco Alvarez nor Nolan McLean challenged this full-count pitch to Patrick Bailey, resulting in a walk rather than a strikeout. No guarantees it would have been overturned via ABS, but it if it had, it would have changed this inning.

@TBTimes_Rays How long does it take for the ABS to get into gear and jog down to the field?

Home plate umpire CB Bucknor struck on mask by foul ball, goes down, gets checked out, walks off under own power, apparently is leaving game. So there's a delay for #Rays and #Brewers as another ump goes to get gear to move behind plate.

@WexlerRules @Mets How do I inquire about this job of signing random top-20 HS kids from a decade ago??? Fits in perfectly with my "never actively partake in a music artist until they've been around for 20 years" mindset.

@Super70sSports He's got that glazed over Angel Hernandez look.... He's ready to hang em up, but wants to go scorched earth on the kids "ruining" the game. This'll show em!!!

If you were as half as bad at your job as C.B. Bucknor is at his, you’d be unemployed. Stevie Wonder could literally have made the correct call here just from hearing his fucking foot hit the bag.

@ernestdove It became a moot point quickly, but this is why I was in favor of going big on Vladdy and why Yankee fans were missing critical logic in pretending to prefer the wide net approach after missing on Soto.

@ernestdove Yea, that's why I'm not crazy about it haha. Obviously gonna happen first couple times through rotation, but after that I despise seeing a guy leave after 5 when not because of pitch count. Shredding the Reeds and Kranicks to avoid the "third time through order" hurts more later

@BishBaseball Always happens though in extra innings PLUS this Mets strategy of having swingman arms like Meyers, Brazoban & Manaea means less one inning arms available in these situations.

Certainly willing to give the veteran Luis Garcia more chances HOWEVER, at some point i would consider a quietly solid Austin Warren in his place as needed this year for Mets.

@BNightengale Tired: WBC blah blah blah Wired: you just listed 3 pitchers who are game-managers (yes, including Skenes) that are finding out real quick that the tightest K-zone in history is going to give hitters incredible audacity to just ignore the nibbling.

@Iletmykpop @ChrisIllitch Crews was caught in this generations college baseball revolution. We see "generational" guys every 3 years... But he performed! Prob is you looked up mid-season and so was everyone else. It became obvious these guys were now physical as fuck, but too late to quit the rhetoric

Crews hitting chops have degraded immensely since his pre draft days and at his age 24 season seeing him in AAA to start the season is a last ditch effort to fix the bad habits in his hitting that developed over the last couple years. It’s almost uncanny how bad his hit tool is.

@BaseUnstitched @SleeperMets Totally, I didn't get any "he sucks" vibes from your post. Mets have collected their share of GB guys over the last few regimes. But scouting and development continue to see them increase their athleticism and contact. Not surprisingly, offering more room for error as they grow

I want to be clear, I am not an advocate for forced pull-air I love guys who hit the ball hard the other way and I think Benge does it with the best of them, my thought was more around the fact that the likelihood for production at this rate of GBs isn't high Across the board though, I am not worried. He'll succeed at the next level
