@ylecun Do you have a god complex? Why did you repost a 3 year old post calling for you to be president of AI? A lot has happened in 3 years and you haven't had much to do with it..

@EMostaque But the only downside is no one makes any money to buy any products or services. So some type of UBI is needed to allow enough currency to keep people buying these products and services.

@EMostaque I think you have to think bigger picture.. if you take an extreme hypothetical scenario - everything that exists in the economy can continue to produce goods and services with all the workload being done by AI/robots, then the world produces everything it needs to keep existing

Let’s say half of OpenAI and Anthropic goes to the American people, $1 trillion That works out at $2,800 per American. With a 5% dividend (optimistic) that would be $142 a year Which alas would barely cover the cost of an OpenAI or Anthropic subscription.
Sen. Bernie Sanders@SenSanders

AI is built on humanity’s collective knowledge. The wealth it generates must benefit humanity — not just Elon Musk, Sam Altman and other AI oligarchs. That’s why I’ll be introducing the American AI Sovereign Wealth Fund Act — to give the public a direct ownership stake.

The best explanation I've read so far, and one that makes sense, is this: at the time Mythos preview was revealed, there simply wasn't enough compute to grant public access. Hence the "too powerful" framing. Now, with access to Colossus 1 and 2, they can provide and enable it.

"We look forward to making Mythos-class models available through general release" I don't understand Anthropic's strategy regarding Mythos. On the one hand, everyone is saying that Mythos has achieved the expected quality and is finding bugs and exploits that no other model has ever found. On the other hand, precisely for this reason, Anthropic has repeatedly stated that it's "too powerful for release." Why the sudden about-face? One explanation: PR. The preview, including a benchmark, combined with the statement that the model wouldn't be released due to its power, generated a lot of attention. But does Anthropic really need that? Anthropic is so significant because they primarily serve enterprises. Their biggest problem: compute. Too many want Claude, too little compute to support it adequately. Therefore, this PR move wasn't necessary, and the IPO is still in the near future. In short: it seems downright erratic to now do the exact opposite of what was stated. Be that as it may, once the guardrails are in place and there is general availability, SWEs will receive a significant boost. Judging by the benchmarks, nothing even comes close to the myth so far.

@JEverettLearned I did an accidental bone smash on my nose when I was maybe 9ish, not enough to have broken it but, in hindsight, probably fractured. There is a definite permanent bump where it happened. But I would not recommend that anyone does that level of force to themselves voluntarily!

@EamonnBlaney @ballsdotie @kemper_sabrina All army's do war games, it's a major part of keeping skills high. The securing of the northern Ireland border is governed by the good Friday agreement and part of that is keeping army visibility low of the border If you're talking about immigration, that's not the army's job

we're starting rollout of GPT-5.5-Cyber, a frontier cybersecurity model, to critical cyber defenders in the next few days. we will work with the entire ecosystem and the government to figure out trusted access for cyber; we want to rapidly help secure companies/infrastructure.

GPT-5.5 prompt cheat sheet. Has that big model smell: > Less literal > Handles ambiguity > More cognitive depth > Intuits user intention It hasn't been fried with too much RL. Overly RL'd models are too linear. Not GPT-5.5. It's a good model ser.

developers.openai.com/api/docs/guide… **NEW: GPT-5.5 Prompting Guide** "GPT-5.5 works best when prompts define the outcome and leave room for the model to choose an efficient solution path. Compared with earlier models, you can often use shorter, more outcome-oriented prompts: describe what good looks like, what constraints matter, what evidence is available, and what the final answer should contain. Avoid carrying over every instruction from an older prompt stack. Legacy prompts often over-specify the process because earlier models needed more help staying on track. With GPT-5.5, that can add noise, narrow the model’s search space, or lead to overly mechanical answers. For more detail on GPT-5.5 behavior changes, start with the Using GPT-5.5 guide. This guide focuses on prompt changes that follow from those behavior changes. The patterns here are starting points. Adapt them to your product surface, tools, evals, and user experience goals."

@kimmonismus LeCun had been consistently wrong for the last few years. This take is as wrong as his views on LLMs. His argument actually discredits his own point, if we shouldn't listen to Dario or Sam, why should we listen to him telling us not to listen to them??

Lecun's argument doesn't make sense to me, and it never has. His point is that one should only listen to "experts" in specific disciplines who have studied in that field. I think that's wrong. Why? Arguments are examined based on the content of what is presented. One judges whether what is said is true or not, and not based on biography. It may well be true that someone who has studied in a discipline has in-depth knowledge. But Amodei will also employ a team of scientists at Anthropic and will form an opinion. This opinion must be critically examined. But it shouldn't be condemned simply because someone studied the "wrong" subject. *That* is unscientific.
Yann LeCun@ylecun

Dario is wrong. He knows absolutely nothing about the effects of technological revolutions on the labor market. Don't listen to him, Sam, Yoshua, Geoff, or me on this topic. Listen to economists who have spent their career studying this, like @Ph_Aghion , @erikbryn , @DAcemogluMIT , @amcafee , @davidautor

I feel bad dunking on them so much but it's genuinely absurd how bad the new Claude Code desktop app is. You can feel the vibe code leaking everywhere. Every "feature" is barely integrated and full of edge cases that weren't considered. Every menu feels barren, stuffed in last second for some random toggle. Every hotkey breaks as soon as you try to do anything else. I've lost track of how many bugs I've encountered. I found at least 40 in under an hour. And it's all truly absurd arcane shit. Stuff like voice mode typing in all input boxes instead of just the one you have focused. Any one of these issues would have been enough for me to do a massive post-mortem and likely fire someone. A $400b company shipping this is absurd. I feel like I'm going mad. How does anyone seriously use this?? It is broken on fundamental levels that are hard to comprehend. How are we supposed to trust the code these models produce if Anthropic's official showcases are absolute slop? Dedicated video on this coming tomorrow. Just needed to get this off my chest.

Re: the report that older models can find the same exploits as Mythos: This doesn’t mean much about its power relative to those models, and is a common mistake in evaluating frontier AI. We continually find that old models are far more powerful than we realized once new models show us that certain powers are possible. An easy analogy is the proliferation of any kind of technology, like powered flight. No human flew for the first few million years of our species. Once the Wright brothers proved it was possible, powered flight was a common occurrence within a decade. It takes a certain kind of intelligence to do something new and unexpected, it’s a much easier task to achieve something once you know it’s possible

In two weeks I'm flying to China for the first time. I'm really excited, especially as a German, because digitalization is barely happening here and is progressing very slowly, while China (or so I've heard) is very advanced when it comes to digitalization in everyday life. I'm going at the invitation of a well-known company and will be reporting live. More on that as soon as I'm there :)

tl;dr: more Anthropic leaks surfacing • “Mythos” (Claude) looks like next tier up, ~1M context window mentioned • appears to ship in both fast mode + full reasoning mode • Opus 4.7 + Sonnet 4.8 already referenced internally • “buddy” shows up in code, unclear role but tied to rollout window logic • fast mode gating + teaser window (early April) spotted in configs
