The current head of supply chain management in SAPS was working at @Treasury_RSA and helped facilitate the process (similar to having chaired the bid adducation committee that allowed Cat Matlala access to SAPS), after which he became the divisional commissioner of supply chain in SAPS. Bheki Cele, Senzo Mchunu and the current acting police minister Feroz Cachalia were all briefed (the first 2 by the @RSASIU), yet he remains. (Not even mentioning senior management of @SAPoliceService) We brought it up in @ParliamentofRSA through the police portfolio committee with the @AuditorGen_SA, but still no action from SAPS or the ministry. The said general was even questioned in the adhoc committee, but still remainsโ€ฆ. So when does oversight get taken seriously? Our committee will not be a rubber stamp for corruption. Something has got to give.

Don't listen to Al Gore. Al Gore is not a scientist. But I am. There is no โ€œclimate crisis.โ€ That is political jargon, not a legitimate scientific term. In fact, in the United Nations IPCC AR6 WG1 reportโ€”considered by most academics to be the โ€œgold standardโ€ of climatologyโ€”the term โ€œclimate crisisโ€ appears exactly ZERO times. ๐Ÿ”—ipcc.ch/report/ar6/wg1โ€ฆ The Clean Air Act of 1970, as explicitly written, does not classify COโ‚‚ and โ€œgreenhouse gasesโ€ (GHGs) as โ€œair pollutants.โ€ ๐Ÿ”—govinfo.gov/content/pkg/STโ€ฆ (p. 1690 / 15 in .pdf) But in the case of Massachusetts v. EPA (2007), the Supreme Court was asked whether or not the EPA had authority under the Act to regulate COโ‚‚ as an โ€œair pollutant.โ€ The Court ruled in a narrow 5โ€“4 decision that under Section 202(a)(1) of the Act, the EPA had the authority to regulate any emissions from motor vehicles should they โ€œmay reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare.โ€ ๐Ÿ”—oyez.org/cases/2006/05-โ€ฆ The Court's ruling to allow unelected bureaucrats at the EPA to make regulations without Congressional approval was a direct artifact of the 1984 Chevron Deference framework. Obama decided to take advantage of this and ordered the EPA to cook up a so-called โ€œEndangerment Findingโ€ to advance his administration's climate agenda items along without having to go through Congress to properly amend the Clean Air Act of 1970. In June 2024, however, the Supreme Court decided to overturn Chevron in a 6โ€“3 ruling in the Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo case. As such, bureaucrats can no longer interpret vague laws and interpret them to implement desired regulations. This, however, did not apply to cases like Massachusetts v. EPA (2007) that were decided under the Chevron framework. ๐Ÿ”—oyez.org/cases/2023/22-โ€ฆ The Supreme Court needs to overturn Massachusetts v. EPA (2007) as soon as possible, and force Democrats to go through proper channels to impose regulations, not lean into executive powers like petty tyrants to get what they want (something they accuse Trump of doing on the daily). They can go back to the drawing board and amend the Clean Air Act to classify COโ‚‚ as โ€œpollution,โ€ or they can let it go. As for whether or not climate change is an urgent problem, while the IPCC WG2 and WG3 reports (used for policy) have taken an activist stance and say it is, there is not much in the way of actual observational evidence to suggest that we are facing a humanitarian crisis. The quality of life continues to improve despite the modest warming (mostly seen in overnight lows) over the last century. Key figures include: 1โƒฃ Average life expectancy has more than doubled on every continent since the 19th century. ๐Ÿ”—ourworldindata.org/life-expectancy 2โƒฃ The total number of deaths resulting from weather or weather-related natural disasters have decreased by over 96% since the 1920s. That figure is despite a six billion-person increase in global population over that time. This trend has mostly to do with the advent and the improvement of warning coordination systems, but any increase due to supposedly โ€œworseningโ€ extreme weather is masked by it. ๐Ÿ”—ourworldindata.org/natural-disastโ€ฆ 3โƒฃ Global crop yields have been at all-time record highs in recent years, despite droughts and floods (which have always been a thing). This is because many crops have been genetically modified to produce higher yields. Innovation wins. ๐Ÿ”—ourworldindata.org/crop-yields Anyone who claims that we are facing an โ€œexistential crisisโ€ because the planet is a little warmer than it was a century ago is either an uninformed stooge OR is a charlatan. It just so happens to be that Al Gore is the latter. He is a liar.

Al Gore@algore

The Trump Administration is once again trying to deny science and reality โ€“ this time, by throwing out the well-established research connecting the climate crisis to public health. While the Trump Administration can try to ignore the climate crisis, itโ€™s painfully clear that the climate crisis will not ignore us. Last summer, the US experienced a dozen once-in-1,000-year floods in the span of just three days. In Texas, one of those flooding events killed at least 135 people, including 37 children at summer camp. The Trump Administrationโ€™s rollback of the endangerment finding is not only a direct assault on science, knowledge, and public health, it is an insult to the people across the country who are already coping with the disastrous consequences of climate-driven extreme weather events. The decision to revoke the endangerment finding is one of the more egregious examples of the Trump Administration prioritizing fossil fuel profits over American lives.

COโ‚‚ is not a pollutant and never has been. For all of you Orwellian brainwashed masses out there who believe that it is, you probably didnโ€™t notice when they redefined the word to mean the exact opposite of what it has always meant. โ€œPollutantโ€ has always meant something that causes immediate or near-term harm: sewage fouling water and spreading disease right now, smoke choking lungs and blackening cities today, lead scrambling childrenโ€™s brains in real time, asbestos scarring lungs after years of heavy exposure. No substance in history was ever labeled a โ€œpollutantโ€ solely because computer models โ€” or prophets of the ages โ€” projected tiny theoretical harms 100โ€“300 years in the future, especially when the substance delivers huge, immediate, obvious, measurable, and measured massive gigantic benefits like dramatically more food for the entire world of human beings. COโ‚‚ is the first and only case treated this way: the 2007 Supreme Court ruling and 2009 EPA Endangerment Finding relied primarily on long-range climate-model projections of distant โ€œwelfareโ€ effects to justify the label under the Clean Air Act while ignoring or downplaying the well-documented, real-world greening of the planet and enormous increases in crop yields directly caused by higher COโ‚‚ levels. โ€ข Satellite data (NASA, NOAA, CSIRO) show global leaf area increased by ~5โ€“14% since the 1980s, largely due to COโ‚‚ fertilization, equivalent to adding a continent-sized area of green vegetation. โ€ข Controlled experiments and field studies (FACE experiments, meta-analyses) confirm C3 crops (wheat, rice, soybeans) gain 15โ€“30% higher yields at 550โ€“700 ppm COโ‚‚, with less water needed due to improved efficiency. โ€ข Global food production has risen dramatically alongside rising COโ‚‚โ€”calories per person up ~25% since 1960s, famine deaths plummeted, despite population doubling. COโ‚‚ is plant food. It is breath. It is life. It is the single biggest driver of the ongoing global greening and the reason billions of people have more food on their plates today than ever before. Not poison. Not pollution. Never has been. This is just the modern version of 2+2=5. But my guess is that you have never even read the book, so perhaps I am addressing the wrong crowd here as you all scratch your heads and say, โ€œWhat is he talking about?โ€ If you still buy the modern 2+2=5, go back to your love affair with Big Brother. But remember that Big Brother has just been kicked out of the United States of America.
