@HonMachakaire Minister Machakaire, as Minister of Youth, it is surprising that your appeal to the President centres on recognising Victor, rather than first addressing the negligence that has resulted in the loss of young lives.

Since I was attending Cabinet yesterday, I unfortunately missed this tragic incident. However, I wish to commend and applaud Victor “Coach Rambo” Kazembe for his extraordinary courage and selfless service. In a moment of great tragedy, he displayed the strength of a lion and the heart of a servant, risking his own life to bring dignity to the deceased and closure to grieving families. His actions remind us that true heroes are defined not by words, but by sacrifice and service to others. As a nation pursuing food security and sustainable development, we need more citizens with such compassion, integrity, and commitment to humanity. Men like Coach Rambo place the welfare of others before personal gain, and those are the values that build a strong nation. I will find time to humbly appeal to His Excellency, President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, to consider recognizing and rewarding this outstanding son of the soil. A piece of land and a few cattle would be a fitting gesture of appreciation and would empower a man who has already demonstrated that service to others comes first. Zimbabwe is proud of Victor “Coach Rambo” Kazembe. We salute his courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to humanity. May his example inspire us all.

While others are signing autocracy into law, President @HHichilema has today entrenched the right to education into the echelons of the Zambian constitution and stated that no person in the future should be able to reverse that right. He also argued that free education will not compromise the quality of education if implemented properly. To anyone who’s interested in observing and understanding the role of digital bots in shaping and influencing public opinion on Zimbabwean politics, my post below provides curious insights. I quoted Jonathan Moyo’s post and almost immediately, it garnered over 30 responses, and almost, if not all, coming to Moyo’s defence, practically expressing the same venerations of Moyo’s expertise and experience. The jabs against me were of similar sentiment too, including the two that I’ve screenshot below. If you ever watched The Matrix Reloaded, you’ll remember the “burly brawl” scene where Agent Smith multiplies into multiple characters, whom Neo had to fight! Now picture Jonso Reloaded: if you post a critical comment against Moyo, you can get dozens of responses from “him” through these bots, some of which attempt to come across as possessed with knowledge of their interlocutor - one called me an online English tutor, another a law lecturer. With enough investment, these bots can be armed with actual profiles of their target subjects so that their attacks sound credible and grounded in real knowledge of who they’re engaging! Just this snippet of interaction left me with serious thought about recent allegations that architects of CAB3 shelled millions behind this campaign! @freemanchari @begottensun

#PauseForThought Every year, sometimes twice a year, I look forward to going home to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is home. It is where my umbilical cord was buried. It is where my roots are. It is where, God willing, I hope to spend my twilight years. In a few years' time, when I finally decide to return for good, I will pack my belongings, my work tools, my Partial Discharge detectors, Hipot testers, Tan Delta test sets, transformer testing equipment and all the other instruments that have been part of my working life, load them into a container and head home to be among my people. But every time I visit, there is one thought that I can never completely silence. What would happen if something went terribly wrong? When I'm driving through places like Zai Rimwe, Mutekedza or Mupatsi on my way to rural Njanja, I sometimes catch myself thinking about the unthinkable. What if there was an accident out here? Would someone be able to call an ambulance? Would an ambulance come? If the situation was serious, would there be access to an air ambulance? If people were trapped in a vehicle, would the fire brigade arrive in time? Where would the injured be taken? Would the nearest hospital have the equipment, medicines and resources needed to save a life? These are not political questions. These are human questions. They affect the wealthy businessman in a luxury vehicle just as much as they affect the pensioner travelling on a rural bus. A million dollars in the boot of a Rolls-Royce means nothing when a person is trapped under twisted metal and every minute counts. In those moments, status disappears. Politics disappears. Connections disappear. All that matters is whether help is coming. Whether the ambulance arrives. Whether the rescue team arrives. Whether the hospital can do what it was built to do. Living in the UK has taught me many things. Life here is far from perfect, but one thing that gives people peace of mind is knowing that if tragedy strikes, a system exists. Ambulances, fire services, air ambulances and hospitals may not be flawless, but they are there. People know that when they dial for help, help is on its way. That sense of security is priceless. Healthcare and emergency services are not luxuries. They are not political projects. They are among the most important investments any nation can make because every single one of us is mortal. No title, no office, no amount of wealth, no security detail and no political influence can prevent an accident, a stroke, a heart attack or a medical emergency. Life can change in a second. That is why I believe we should all be talking more about hospitals, ambulances, rescue services and emergency preparedness. Not because we expect disaster. But because we all hope to survive it if it comes. This is not criticism. It is concern. It is the concern of a son of the soil who loves his country and wants the same peace of mind for Zimbabweans that people in many other countries take for granted. Some things are worth putting ahead of everything else. Saving lives is one of them. END.

L'économie, dans le fond, c'est juste un problème d'allocation. Tu as des ressources finies et des usages infinis. Qui décide où va quoi ? Imagine une cour de récré. 100 enfants, des paquets de cartes Pokémon distribués au hasard. Tu laisses faire. Très vite, un ordre émerge. Les bons joueurs accumulent les cartes rares, les collectionneurs trient, les négociateurs trouvent des deals. Personne n'a planifié. Et pourtant chaque carte finit dans les mains de celui qui en tire le plus de valeur. Le système maximise le bonheur total de la cour. C'est ça, la main invisible. Maintenant fais entrer la maîtresse. Elle trouve ça injuste. Léo a 50 cartes, Tom en a 3. Elle confisque, redistribue, impose l'égalité. Trois effets immédiats. Les bons joueurs arrêtent de jouer, à quoi bon. Les mauvais n'ont plus de raison de progresser, ils auront leur part. Les échanges s'effondrent. La cour est égale, et morte. Elle a maximisé l'égalité, elle a détruit le bonheur. Le problème de la maîtresse, c'est qu'elle ne peut pas avoir l'information que la cour avait collectivement. Il a démontré qu'il sait identifier des problèmes immenses et y allouer des ressources avec un rendement spectaculaire. L'État aussi a un track record. Hôpitaux qui s'effondrent, éducation qui décline, dette qui explose, services publics qui se dégradent malgré des budgets en hausse constante. Le marché identifie les bons allocateurs, la politique identifie les bons communicants. Le profit n'est pas une finalité, c'est un signal. Il dit : tu as alloué des ressources rares vers un usage que les gens valorisent suffisamment pour payer. Plus le profit est gros, plus la création de valeur est grande. Quand Starlink est rentable, ça veut dire que des millions de gens dans des zones rurales ont enfin internet. Quand un ministère est en déficit, ça veut dire qu'il consomme plus qu'il ne produit. L'un crée, l'autre détruit, et on appelle ça redistribution. Dans nos sociétés il y a deux catégories d'acteurs. Les entrepreneurs et les bureaucrates. L'entrepreneur prend un risque personnel pour identifier un problème, mobiliser des ressources, créer une solution. S'il se trompe il perd. S'il a raison, ses clients gagnent, ses employés gagnent, ses fournisseurs gagnent, l'État collecte des impôts. Il est la cellule de base du progrès humain. Le bureaucrate ne prend aucun risque personnel. Son salaire est garanti. Au mieux il maintient une rente existante. Au pire il la détruit par excès de réglementation, mauvaise allocation forcée, incitations perverses qui découragent ceux qui produisent. Mais dans aucun cas il ne crée. Regarde les 50 dernières années. iPhone, internet civil, SpaceX, Tesla, Google, Amazon, Stripe, mRNA, ChatGPT. Toutes des inventions privées, portées par des entrepreneurs, financées par du capital risque. Pas un seul ministère n'a inventé quoi que ce soit qui ait changé ta vie au quotidien. La France est devenue le laboratoire mondial de la dérive bureaucratique. 57% du PIB en dépenses publiques, record absolu. Une administration tentaculaire, une fiscalité qui pénalise la création de richesse. Résultat : décrochage face aux États-Unis, à l'Allemagne, à la Suisse. Fuite des cerveaux. Désindustrialisation. Dette qui explose. Et le pire c'est que la mauvaise allocation s'auto-renforce. Plus l'État prélève, moins les entrepreneurs créent. Moins ils créent, moins il y a de base fiscale. Plus l'État s'endette et taxe. Boucle de rétroaction négative parfaite. La maîtresse pense qu'elle aide, et chaque année la cour produit moins. Dans nos sociétés, ce sont les entrepreneurs, toujours, qui font avancer la civilisation. Les bureaucrates au mieux maintiennent une rente, au pire la détruisent. Aucune société n'a jamais progressé en taxant ses créateurs pour subventionner ses gestionnaires. La question n'est jamais qui a combien. C'est qui alloue le mieux la prochaine unité de ressource pour maximiser le futur de l'humanité. La réponse depuis 200 ans n'a jamais changé. Ce ne sont pas les fonctionnaires.
