If Tottenham stay up, names like Matheus Fernandes 🇵🇹 (West Ham), Alex Scott 🏴 (Bournemouth), Francisco Trincão 🇵🇹 and Maximiliano Araújo 🇺🇾 would all be smart signings. Young, technical, hungry — exactly what Spurs need for a rebuild. Thoughts? #THFC

Despite not knowing what league we’ll be in next season, we’ll still see players linked to us. We can debate the names, but that misses the point. No one who’s been making football decisions at Spurs these last few years should be anywhere near deciding who we sign this summer.

Breaking News🇬🇧✝️: Utter Abomination: Last Saturday a young woman was raped in an Epsom Churchyard by a gang of 'nondescript' men - Reverend Catherine Hutton, (pictured below) gives this inexplicable response: "Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that, and that is why we are having an act of hope for the community, so we can stand together and declare we are good people." This type of suicidal empathy is not the word of GOD or Christian teaching, it's the brainwashed drivel from another placed quisling. The Churches of England, Scotland and Rome are overbrimming with captured minds, who've misguidedly fallen in love with the most evil creatures that slither upon GOD's good earth. We offer our prayers to the young woman and her family at this terrible time for her and them. We offer that these animals are caught and the toughest justice is handed down to them in this world or the next. We've seen the deliberate withholding of information and descriptions of rapists, terrorists and murderers by the police on literally hundreds of occasions at the guidance of the PM and Home Office. When the details, demographics and residency status of these criminals is finally disclosed we normally see why from the very start. Utter abomination.

Honesty and integrity matter. Today’s humiliating climb-down showed that the Conservatives know they can no longer defend the indefensible. It has never been more clear that Boris Johnson's authority is shot and he is unable to lead. Britain deserves better.

News| Bronwen James, 29, Southampton Ex-PE teacher charged with sex offences against three children appears in court A former PE teacher has appeared in court accused of a series of sexual offences involving three children as young as 14. Bronwen James, 29, is charged with 13 offences said to have taken place over a three-year period while she worked at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham and Bitterne Park School in Southampton. James appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court where she confirmed her name, date of birth and address. The case has now been sent to Salisbury Crown Court for further hearings later this year. Allegations spanning three years According to the charge sheet, prosecutors allege James engaged in sexual activity with two girls aged 14 and 15, and a 16-year-old boy while in a position of trust between August 2021 and June 2022. She is also accused of making an indecent image of a child and engaging in sexual communications with a girl aged between 13 and 15. Police say the alleged offending involves three separate complainants, all of whom were under 18 at the time. Police statement Wiltshire Police confirmed the charges in a statement, saying the case relates to "sexual activity and communications against three children over a three-year period". The force said James had been employed as a PE teacher at both Hardenhuish School in Chippenham and Bitterne Park School in Southampton during the time of the alleged offences. Bail conditions imposed Magistrates granted James bail with strict conditions. She is banned from contacting any of the complainants and must not have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16. She is due to appear at Salisbury Crown Court on 7 August. Safeguarding procedures The allegations have triggered safeguarding processes at the schools involved. In cases of this nature, schools typically work with police and local authorities to ensure support is available for pupils and families affected by an investigation. There is no suggestion that any other staff members are under investigation. Case now with Crown Court The case will now progress through the Crown Court, where James will be asked to enter pleas to the charges. As with all criminal proceedings, the allegations have not been proven and she is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court. Further hearings are expected in the coming months. It’s good news that the Strait of Hormuz has now reopened. This must be a long lasting and workable solution, without tolls or restrictions on routes. Today we announced our joint plan with France and other international partners to protect freedom of navigation. We need to see a return to peace and stability, and a permanent ceasefire.

I’ve spoken to one of Robbins’s predecessors as permanent undersecretary at the foreign office, who says he “doesn’t recognise” Ciaran Martin’s account of the vetting process and Robbins’s role in it. He says it is highly unusual for the Foreign Office to reject advice from UK Security Vetting not to appoint someone to a sensitive job and that Robbins could have informed a senior minister - the PM or the foreign secretary, or indeed their senior advisers - of the fact that UK SV advised against the appointment, even if the convention was not to share the reasons or the accompanying analysis. It will be fascinating to hear from Robbins on this
Sam Coates Sky@SamCoatesSky

NEW Friends of sacked Foreign Office boss Olly Robbins are starting to hit back and say sacking baseless. I've been talking to ex National Cyber Security Centre boss Ciaran Martin - who is about to embark on a media round ** He says it is the job the FCDO - so it was ultimately Olly Robbins - to decide whether security clearance is granted or not. Usually the FCDO security department does it and most cases didn't reach his level, but the most senior ones (presumably Mandelson) do. ** It’s ENTIRELY up to them, working with information from his own department and UK Security Vetting. The FCDO / he does not “overturn” the decision of UKSV - he’s they only one that decides. ** He says that Robbins was +prohibited+ from sharing details of what goes into his vetting assessment. Vetting would not work if elements shared confidentially went public. He was on a duty not to relay the position of UKSV. That’s why ministers do on get told - he is under a duty not to pass on any details beyond a pass/fail recommendation. ** So Martin says: the idea that there was a “recommendation” that was the “overriden” is wrong. This is the characterisation of government. The only assessment made is that by Robbins, and he could not have passed on any additional details. ** Therefore he feels the sacking of Robbins has no basis and that Robbins is being treated badly. ** Robbins will go before the FCDO select committee, perhaps as early as next Tuesday Ciaran Martin will be on @skynews shortly

Just read on X a pile of old shit from Sky’s alleged political editor @BethRigby in which she trotted out Starmer’s defence that he didn’t know Mandelson had failed his security vetting, That’s not her job. Starmer has comms to do that. Her job, on behalf of viewers/voters is to take Starmer’s story apart. Nobody in their right mind believes Starmer wasn’t party to the cover-up. Just to post crap on X or broadcast it on Sky News is beyond poor. Journalism is about investigation and revelation. Not PR for a lying Prime Minister.

There is a far simpler explanation for the appointment of Mandelson. The Foreign Office knew the Prime Minister wanted it to happen despite concerns raised directly with him about Epstein & business links with China and Russia so they delivered what the boss wanted.

The case being made for the defence of @Keir_Starmer this morning appears to be that neither the Prime Minister nor any other minister knew how vetting works & no official pointed this out to them. No wonder @darrenpjones told @BBCr4today it was “quite frankly flabbergasting”.

EXC: UK military chiefs have been asked to find £3.5bn in "efficiencies" and other savings this financial year, even as Sir Keir Starmer says he is readying his armed forces for war, sources have signalled to Sky News. As we revealed on the podcast this morning, heads of the army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and other top brass were due to meet early this week to discuss the funding pressures. There's a £28 billion funding gap in the MOD budget over 4 years. #liveblog-body" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">news.sky.com/story/politics… First heard on Politics at Sam and Anne's.
