@SynapticaTech @shub0414 Constantly. pg_stat_statements for tracking mean_time trends across deploys to catch regressions early. We also lean on pg_stat_user_indexes for unused index bloat and pg_stat_bgwriter for cache hit ratios. Actually building a tool around this now for rails + postgres devs

We use pg_stat_user_tables + pg_stat_statements regularly — track seq_scan vs idx_scan, idx_tup_read vs tup_updated. If seq_scan >> idx_scan on high-update tables → red flag. Also pgBadger for log analysis & EXPLAIN ANALYZE during reviews. Mostly automated alerts + manual sniff on hot tables. You use pg_stat a lot?

Interviewer : If a database index makes queries faster, why don’t we just index every column?
