A group were rather rebels than outlaws. They were the Waghers of Okhamandal on the north-western promontory of Kathiawar. They had always been a turbulent class, and in early times had been the most daring pirates in the Arabian seas. They are partly Hindu and partly Mussalman, and the difference hu of religion forms curiously enough no bar to intermarriage. They were first heard of in Anglo-Indian history, when in 1804 they plundered a vessel from Bombay. The cause, however, of all the later trouble was the readdition in 1817 of Okhamandal by the British Government to the Gaekwar. The distance of Okhamandal from Baroda rendered it impossible for the latter administration to properly govern it. Three years later the Gaekwar had to call in a British force under Colonel Stanhope to storm Dwarka. The Waghers then remained quiet until the Mutiny, when they not only drove out the Maratha Governor, but actually led an armed force into British Kathiawar. They were defeated by Colonel Honner in 1859, and it seemed that the last had been heard of them. As a matter of fact the worst storm was yet to come. In 1862 the renowned Mulu Manik with other Waghers broke out from the Reva Kantha jail, and it took six years and the lives of two British officers to again restore peace in the unhappy province. Note: Several aspects of this book such as those concerning intermarriage with Muslim Vaghers and pirates are misleading and do not stand the test of factual accuracy.

कांग्रेस की मानसिकता हमेशा से गुजरात और गुजरातियों के प्रति विरोधी रही है। मैंने स्वय बार बार ये अनुभूति कि है। स्वयं राष्ट्रीय नेता बन बेठे कंग्रेस के एसे नेताओं द्वारा हर बार गुजरात के खिलाफ आपत्तिजनक मानसिकता का प्रदर्शन किया जाता है, जिसके कारण गुजरात कांग्रेस के नेताओं के लिए जनता के बीच जाना भी कठिन हो गया है।

Brahma's invitation to Buddha: In the Ariyapariyasana-sutta (Great Quest), Brahma Sahampati comes to the Buddha and talks to him about the "asudha dhamma" (impure teachings) that were previously spread by the people of Magadha. Brahma Sahampati urges the Buddha to open the door to immortality and teach the Dhamma. This event is a turning point in the Buddha's life, as it leads to his decision to teach the Dhamma publicly. The Mauryas did not boast of their gotra, caste, or any form of lineage-based glory. At most, Asōkã referred to himself as "Laja Magadhe" (Magadhan King). References to their caste and lineage appear only in much later literature.

The Indra Sabha at the Ellora Caves is dedicated to Bhagwan Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara. While named "Indra Sabha" (Indra's Assembly) due to a misidentification of the Yaksha Matanga figure as Indra, it serves as a prominent shrine of the Digambara sect.

ঀ* oṃ namō bhagavatyai ārya tārāyai || ye dharmā hētu prabhava hētum tēshām tathāgatōhya vadat tēshānchayo nirōdhaḥ ēvaṃ vādī mahāsraśramaṇaḥ || This particular statue is a significant artifact of Vajrayana Buddhism in the Central Karnataka region during the rule of the Kalyani Chalukyas (Western Chalukyas). At the base of the statue, below the lotus flower, a homage to Tara (om namō bhagavatyai ārya tārāyai) and the mantra of dependent arising are inscribed in Nagari script.

Achyuta was a contemporary of the Gupta Emperor Samudragupta and was defeated by him, leading to the annexation of the Panchala region into the Gupta Empire. The coin features a prominent wheel with eight spokes (Buddhist Dharmchakra) on the reverse side. The obverse bears the Brahmi legend "Achyu," which refers to the king.
