How on earth would opening the borders fix human trafficking? Removing a barrier to commit a crime makes the crime easier to commit. Legalizing and regulating sex work might have minimal impact, sunlight being the best disinfectant. Victims could come forward without fear.

Concord is not a game. Concord is a symbol. When people call something a Concord, they don't reference the game Concord, but what it represents within the current gaming industry. The reason the name Concord caught on as a concept of what it is today is because the game exemplified everything that is wrong with many of the mainstream triple A games and multiplied it by 10. Bizarre choices that make no sense like releasing a game in an oversaturated and very much captured market, bland and generic (if not outright UNappealing in the case of Concord) designs that appeal to practically nobody in both character design and the fundamentals of the game itself and worst of all, alienating practically any possible playerbase they could have to chase that mythical modern audience that never shows up. And all of that made in a timeframe that most dev studios would kill for with a budget that looks like the GDP of a small, poor country. And it failed. Miserably. The modern audience, as always, did not show up. Because the game was not made to appeal to anyone that actually plays video games. They made a game so inclusive, it became exclusive to players that simply don't exist in enough numbers to keep ANY game alive. Is it any wonder that Concord became a new term? The issues that plagued Concord are not exclusive at all to just that game and we can see them in so many others. So many games are coming out that suffer from a combination, if not all, of the issues mentioned above. So when we received the perfect name to encompass all these issues with one, simple word... of course it caught on. That's how Concord became a symbol. Not the one it probably wanted to become, not the one the industry wanted... but a symbol nonetheless. Not EVERYTHING is Concord... but A LOT of it very much IS.

@comicalrock I'm not sure how we would compare numbers between regulated and unregulated sex work. The numbers don't exist for the latter. I'm sure the former is not perfect, but that legal brothels get trafficked women that we know about would mean they had a built in escape hatch.

@GrumpyCatterman We've seen what legal sexwork does in places like Amsterdam, Las Vegas, far east and porn. It doesnt decrease human trafficking, it actually increases it as sexwork is normalized, trafficked individuals start becoming unnoticed. Many legal brothels get trafficked women and girls
