@JBNevercott @Reasonmaxxing @JoozRule @TheLaurenChen It’s just as likely they would accuse the lawyer of not trying hard enough (legitimate grounds for appeal) had he not tried something. It was one of the weakest cases in history, the lawyer had to put up some kind of defense.

@ChazakielDoremi Also the confusion is partly because the script is written with repeating terms. Kellogg has referred to both Shaun and the previous director as “the old man” so it seems like he’s referring to Shaun even when he’s an infant. We just don’t learn any about the previous guy.

Not to mention that Shaun's motivations make zero sense. Why on earth is he sending assassins after you if his goal is for you to find him so you can succeed him? Additionally, how did he give the order for the cyborg guy to kidnap his own child self to start your chase after him

A really weird quirk of this game is that when playing the Institute route there's no evidence whatsoever that the Institute is actually doing this. A sort of bizarre deutercanonical fork where what the Institute's actual plan is retroactively depends on you joining them, or not.

@SophiaNarwitz Like I’m not sure they are getting how juries are picked. You have to prove to the court that you can be nonpartial to the case. If people went in there with obvious bias based on race, they would be asked to leave. If they lied and hid their bias, that’s injustice.

Worth noting it wasn’t an all white jury, either, Asians and Hispanics were there too. But I do have to ask, is the implication here that regardless of evidence, if more black people were on the jury that they wouldn’t have convicted him? Because that’s also not a good argument here and also raises some serious problems. The guy was super duper guilty. If you followed the trial it became very apparent. Also, “it requires moral honesty about who is deemed dangerous”, I dunno, call me crazy, but maybe it’s the individual who violently murdered somebody? Like I’ll readily acknowledge, there’s many cases out there were someone is horribly abused due to their race (or whatever else) and then they snap, creating a complexity for the role of the victim and just how long the murderer should be punished, but this case was not that. This is not a morally complex case. The dude sucked and got exactly what he deserved. His race or the race of the jurors do not play a role in this case and anyone pretending otherwise is disingenuous beyond belief.

@JBNevercott @Grxit Don’t know the cast, but in other games’ cases it’s because they have a bunch of followers on social media (or tv actors) and the higher-ups are trying to leverage that to sell copies. Much like movie celebrities doing mo-cap/face scans.
