“The way you're talking about loyalty translates to servitude.”
Yes. Loyalty to America means serving the American people. Insane that you grew up here and can’t get that through your skull.
I’ll remind you once again that the Mayflower Pilgrims didn’t leave England, they extended it. As for the Irish, there was no independent country of Ireland in the 1840s. There was a government that was happy to see them dead, and the Irish people were forced to make the impossible choice between a slow and painful death by starvation, or leaving the land that their ancestors had called home for thousands of years. Some made the choice to become Americans, and their descendants have since fought and died for this country for 200 years.
That was not your situation. Your parents came to America, you exploited the country for riches, and then you fucked off the moment you thought you saw a higher ROI elsewhere.
As for what it means to ‘stay and fight’, no one expected you to pick up a gun Balaji. We all know you are a coward. The only thing the American people demanded from you was that you employ the capital that you accumulated in our country to strengthen America and her people. The capital you accumulated under the benevolent protection of millions of American soldiers and policemen who do pick up a gun every day and put their lives on the line to defend our people. And even that proved too much for you.
As to which Americans you should have been loyal to: All of them. America is not an ideology. Even the most ideologically deluded idiots are still Americans. And I am happy to embrace all American citizens as my brothers and sisters, regardless of background. But does not mean we need to accept infinity immigrants forever and give them all the best jobs in the nation. No people in all of history would have put up with that. Not China, not India, not anywhere.
The truth that you’ll never understand until it’s too late is that no nation of Balaji Srinivasans will ever be strong. Because you would all flee the moment things got tough, just as you fled America.
Like I said. Enjoy Singapore. Or go to India, or go to hell. I’ll be in Texas.
