@buffvanhuge @LinkofSunshine Hey! So sorry for not responding, I'm currently in surgical recovery!! I don't want to seem like I'm ditching our chat or anything, and I'll be back to read it all in a week or so ok? Sorry for the delay (:

@Jade__Parade @LinkofSunshine This is a narrative review, not a systemic one. It looks at a sample of literature and makes a meta commentary. This article hurts you more than helps. The author tells you that he just searched on pubmed for keywords in the method section, and notes the limitations of /n

@buffvanhuge @LinkofSunshine Which is the primary focus of conversation, not desist rate. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a worthless metric by any means! What I'm saying is, we have no information regarding the mental health outcomes of each group and how they compare... and the sample size is tiny

@buffvanhuge @LinkofSunshine Source 2 is stronger than the others, so I went ahead and read it in full. I'm noticing that the sample size is only 139, which, granted, is enough to produce some weak evidence! It's very low, though. Also, this study fails to compare health outcomes between desisters/persisters

@Jade__Parade @LinkofSunshine 1. I'm not arguing for a cure to gender dysphoria. We can't go in and manually fix it. It resolves on its own without intervention. This has been known for decades at this point 2. There is no evidence that transitioning reduces suicidality, while the opposite is true

@Jade__Parade @LinkofSunshine You completely ignored the point that it's still the prescribed practice in the EU, and whether or not the experimental treatment helps isn't what was asked. You asked for options, this has an application

@Jade__Parade @LinkofSunshine Wrong. All rights have limits, this is settled law. I have the right to bear arms. I can't go buy a usable grenade. I have the right to speech. I can't incite riots or criminal behavior. These are all limits. You already agreed there's a threshold for which it's acceptable

@Jade__Parade @LinkofSunshine Ok, let's put that to the test then. Someone with BID approaches a doctor and says "this hand that is connected to my arm is not mine. It's perfectly functional, I just don't want it. Cut it off." Should the doctor perform the surgery?
