With heavy heart I have to announce that my Dad died unexpectedly at the beginning of this month. He was still a gamer with 70+ (since the Atari times) and had clocked over 2000h in CoD: MW2 & 3. His most recent favourite game was the Mad Max game which he played for over 1400h.

@RetroTechDreams This set piece (and many more) blew my mind back then, as did the overall level of interactivity. It was just so dynamic compared to games like Doom that while excellent felt a lot more static by comparison.

@JlylLyth Wow! Replayed RE4 many times since 2005 but never noticed this cool detail. Here's one not as cool but that I never noticed before. In the room with the queen's grail there's a stained glass window in the ceiling, and if you run underneath it, the color reflects off of Leon.

In the original RE4, if you stick around after defeating El Gigante, you’ll notice him slowly closing his eyes. A subtle touch that speaks volumes about the game’s attention to detail and visual storytelling. #REBHFun

Got started on a project I've been wanting to do for years now, capturing playthroughs of some of my all-time favorite games running on original hardware in the best possible audio/video quality. First up is Sonic Adventure 2 on the Sega DreamCast: youtu.be/4vERw5rcjxo?si…

@retroaccess So sorry to hear about what you're going through. Would gladly offer a guest room, but don't live in the US.. Have bought cables from you in the past, and couldn't be any happier with the quality which is second to none. Hoping that you're able to find housing..

@lydgendary For me it's Sonic Adventure, as it was the main reason for me getting the console all those years back. Still got my OG console, and it's still kicking (except for the GD-ROM drive which gave up years ago and has since been replaced with an ODE solution.)

What's the first game you think of when you hear Sega Dreamcast? For many, it's the iconic Shenmue, which was exclusive to the DC. This game is mostly known for it's incredibly detailed world and, at the time, breakthrough graphics. Gameplay wise, it holds up pretty well still!

@TheRealZophar 28 years? Crazy.. It was an invaluable resource to have back then in the early days :)

Today's the day. 28 years later... (no, not the zombie apocalypse), I still can't fathom that Zophar's Domain has stood the test of time. Truly unbreakable! While many many other sites are lost to the sands of time, The Domain lives on. Thank you everyone, and emulation forever!

@deathtopaulw I have Free Mcboot and I'm pretty sure OPL's on there, but my understanding, because I have a slim PS2 (so no internal HD option) is that since the USB port is 1.1, it's going to be skippy when there's cut-scenes, for example, that expect DVD-speed.

My PS2 isn't reading some games anymore - couldn't read Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter at all (but reads fine on my computer's DVD drive and pcsx2 plays it fine).. but the PS2 reads .hack//outbreak just fine. Ideas? Time to replace the PS2? Can it be fixed easily?

It's time for me to pick up a Genesis 2 SCART cable. My go to @Insurrection33 has no stock, so any other suggestions from folk?

@AestheticsSega What I love about this location is how you even get shadows for the building as well as the barrels. it's the kind of detail that to me didn't seem super common back then, but that looks great and really helps to sell that the sun is setting.

Started Skies of Arcadia a couple of days ago on the Sega Dreamcast. Almost 10 hours in and already in love with it, what a gem of a game 🫶

@JazRignall Still my all-time favorite console. The one I got back in 1999 is still going strong, though I had to swap out the GD-ROM drive for an ODE solution. Still enjoying playing on it, both offline and online :)

25 years ago today, I was at Electronics Boutique buying a Dreamcast. Great machine, but man, software releases were slow during its first year. It did end up with a fantastic legacy library, but unfortunately got hammered by PS2 at the time. A very cool machine to own now, tho'.

Rando Saturday Review: Castle of Illusion This Mega Drive game absolutely blew us away when it arrived in late 1990. The graphics were sumptuous, the parallax scrolling fab, it sounded fantastic, and it played brilliantly. An absolute stone-cold classic; a Mega Drive must-have.

Continuing on with the perler style music video for the excellent Mega Man 2 - 35th Anniversary OST Remix album that my friend Thomas "Moose" Blackburn put out earlier this year. The album in question can be found here: themooseblackburn.bandcamp.com #MegaMan #Perler
