I was recently contacted by @MoMonuments, and they told me about their plan to build a 50-foot and then a 500-foot George Washington statue for America’s 250th birthday. Absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while! I will have their website listed below so you can read the details and donate if that’s something you wish to do. If not, just sharing this cool project would be a ton of help.

Washington, in his early 20s, ordered six busts from London of: Alexander the Great Julius Caesar Charles XII of Sweden Frederick the Great Prince Eugene of Savoy John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough It should be the aspiration of everyman to have a full statue of Washington.

Just spoke with @MoMonuments who's working to build 50 ft and 500 ft George Washington statues and inspire a new generation of great art in America. His team is underway and has already completed a 54 ft monument near Austin. Very cool. Website linked below.

After months of hard work, we’re proud to unveil the statue we’ll build to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. The Guardian of Liberty. What you see here is just the scale model. The real one will be gigantic, the tallest statue in the West. So many people have offered to fund it, but the real challenge will be getting visas so we can build it on American soil. Finishing it in less than a year won’t be easy… but as Napoleon once said, “Impossible is not French!”

There used to be a fountain at the center of the Civic Center Plaza in SF. It was removed in 2003 because: > It's become an intolerable situation, and we don't have additional resources to continually clean it," said Alex Mamak, a spokesman for the Department of Public Works. Department crews clean out human filth and hypodermic needles every morning, only to find a new mess the next morning, Mamak said. This makes me want a new ranking of cities: ornamental fountains per capita. That is, those with the affinity for beauty to construct them, and with the social trust and dignity to sustain them.
