Manipur government today orders police to verify and investigate viral video of students from Rajasthan, who alleged they were threatened by insurgents and forced to pay up while coming from Dimapur to Imphal to participate in the 69th National School Games Championship. The government told the police headquarters to coordinate with their personnel in Senapati and Kangpokpi districts in the investigation. In the video, an official of the Rajasthan school contingent alleged they were held for two hours at gunpoint by who they claimed were "armed Kukis". The Rajasthan students performed well in most of the games, and took home trophies including the wushu championship. More details awaited.

Jai Hind. 🇮🇳 Why a social media blackout matters Even small bits of information like videos of convoys, unit locations, tail numbers, or timestamps can be pieced together by hostile intelligence to map deployments, readiness, and possible plans. Modern adversaries routinely scrape open social media to build this picture; what looks “harmless” to a citizen can become targeting data for an enemy, including for missiles, drones, or terror attacks. The Government of India has explicitly warned that premature disclosure or live visuals of operations and troop movements can jeopardise missions and endanger personnel, citing past cases like Kargil and 26/11 where real‑time coverage had adverse security effects. Senior Indian Army veterans have also publicly appealed to citizens not to post videos or reels of Army, Air Force, or Naval movements, stressing that such posts may unintentionally help the enemy track our forces. How to explain this to the Indian public This blackout is not about censorship but about operational security (OPSEC): keeping our soldiers, sailors, and air warriors safe by denying the enemy easy intelligence from our own phones. Every citizen is effectively a sensor in the information battlespace, so discipline on social media becomes as important as blackout curtains were in past wars. When people understand that one casual reel can put a unit at risk, they are far more likely to accept and support a period of silence for the sake of the country.This has costed Russia many lives against Ukraine due to this.

Context: Verbiage of “Any Kuki Tribe” has been abused by non-Indian citizen Kukis from Myanmar to get ST benefits in India, particularly causing the unrest in Manipur. Delaying the rectification of this with the excuse of “sensitive nature of prevailing situation of state” is just a delay tactic designed to exhaust and frustrate common people of Manipur who are waiting to reach a long term peaceful solution.
