I’ve been here since close to the beginning, and I’m NOT leaving now. I’ve seen Twitter at it’s best, and at it’s worst (and used to write about both for one of the largest Twitter-focused blogs). I welcome thoughtful discourse. Let’s see what happens.

Sometimes my phone will change “you” to “it” and make me sound like a psycho… Did it find the keys? Did it see my text? Did it empty the dishwasher? Real “it puts the lotion on the skin” energy there.

1/ The world is facing a 'ticking time bomb' from its supply of oil, according to a briefing note from JP Morgan. Physical scarcity of oil is about to unfold across the globe, spreading sequentially through April from east to west, causing major economic disruption worldwide. ⬇️

@Robotbeat It’s a moot point. The damage to the supply chain will be catastrophic for both the industries that use it, and the overall economy.

Prompt on Midjourney : A breathtaking desert megastructure stands alone beneath a blazing white sun, a vast ring-shaped palace of pale sandstone, black glass, and gold suspended above endless dunes by colossal sculpted columns. Within the central void hangs a floating garden of palms, fountains, and terraces, visible through the giant open ring. The camera composition should feel cinematic and monumental, a wide-angle hero shot from dune level with strong foreground shadow patterns leading the eye toward the impossible structure. The light should be immaculate and studio-like despite the harsh desert: sculpted highlights on every architectural edge, controlled shadow detail, subtle bounce from the sand, and ultra-clear visibility through warm dust in the air. Small caravans and reflective pools at the base add scale and contrast. The entire image should feel like a lost imperial wonder of impossible engineering, combining extreme detail, royal opulence, surreal physics, and a jaw-dropping sense of scale and clarity. --chaos 30 --ar 16:9 --profile skx15nm --stylize 700 --v 8

Philadelphia, PA - at today's “No Kings” protest, a journalist captured participants screaming "Death to America, Death to the Zionist Entity (Israel), Long Live the Intifada." According to their website - “No Kings” upholds a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. The No Kings protests are orchestrated by the 50501 Movement; the three funders of the 50501 Movement are: - Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss' Foundation ($293.6 million) - George Soros’ Open Society Foundation ($194.2 million) - Arabella ($47 million) So much for “grassroots” fighting against Kings.

@AntSpeaks Most cryptos are scam operations run by people taking advantage of the hype. However, several dozen “coins” are professionally run and legitimately trying to develop real technologies. Those who understand “Technical Analysis” (the trading tools) can make insane money.

Ben McKenzie, who many will recognise from shows like The O.C. and Gotham, speaks with Bill Maher and essentially argues that cryptocurrency is a scam. I’m aware this interview isn’t recent, but there’s a reason I’m bringing it up. Despite considering myself fairly well versed in tech and things related to it, I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that I know very little about crypto. So I have a genuine question for those who understand it better.. Is what Ben is saying here true? Is crypto a Ponzi scheme or a scam? I ask this without bias, although I realise many responses will naturally come with one, and that’s fine. Personally, I know a few people who have done very well from crypto trading, so my immediate, perhaps naive, reaction is that it can’t simply be a scam. I’m interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Enemy Mine (1985). This went hugely over budget as original producer Stephen Friedman left the project due to creative differences, so Wolfgang Petersen had to do extensive reshoots when he took over as a new director. It's based on the Hugo and Nebula award winning 1979 novella by Barry B. Longyear, with a few tweaks to add more drama to the end. And it's a great tale: rivalry becomes friendship and then duty between stranded enemies Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. But it didn't set the box office alight despite an extensive marketing campaign. Which is a shame, because it's a really enjoyable movie with a strong sci-fi pedigree and it's quite touching. The score by Maurice Jarre is exceptionally good too.

The interview between the two legends, Jeff and Bill, was one hour long, so I used the NotebookLM video overview to capture the key details. In a collaborative discussion, Google's Jeff Dean and Nvidia's Bill Dally examine the rapid evolution of machine learning and its future hardware requirements. They highlight the transition from simple task based models to autonomous agents capable of executing long term, complex workflows. To support these advances, the experts emphasise the need for low latency inference and innovative chip architectures that minimise data movement to conserve energy. The conversation also explores how AI driven design is currently accelerating the creation of more efficient semiconductors at both companies. Finally, they reflect on the profound societal benefits of these technologies, particularly through the potential for personalised healthcare and individualised educational tutors.

@BenJohnson2018 After I left Hollywood, I quickly found myself having to remove the studio jobs from my resume and LinkedIn. I was literally yelled at in job interviews (twice!) and had to leave one job because some of the staff were so jealous when they found out I couldn’t work there anymore.

The data on neurodivergent workers is so lopsided it looks like a typo. JPMorgan Chase ran an Autism at Work program and found participants were 90% to 140% more productive than neurotypical employees. With fewer errors. UiPath partnered with AutonomyWorks on AI data labeling and reported neurodivergent associates were 150% more productive than non-neurodiverse talent. Hewlett-Packard integrated neurodivergent professionals into software testing teams and measured a 30% productivity gain. EY reported neurodiverse teams were 1.2 to 1.4x more productive and more accurate than comparable groups. At SAP, a single neurodivergent employee’s solution saved the company $40 million. Now zoom out. 15 to 20% of the global population is neurodivergent. One in five adults. Yet only 22% of autistic adults in the UK are employed. And 73% of neurodivergent people don’t disclose during hiring because they’re afraid of being discriminated against. That means the most productive talent pool in the workforce is also the most underemployed and the most hidden. Karp sees this and is building a pipeline to capture it. Palantir’s Neurodivergent Fellowship pays $110,000 to $200,000 a year. The job posting says outright that neurodivergent individuals will “disproportionately shape the future of America and the West.” A Gartner study projects that one in five Fortune 500 sales organizations will actively recruit neurodivergent talent by 2027. Palantir is two years ahead of that curve. The roster of neurodivergent founders reads like a hall of fame. Branson built Virgin with ADHD and dyslexia. Kamprad founded IKEA and invented the naming system because he couldn’t remember product codes. Musk disclosed Asperger’s on live television. Steve Jobs was dyslexic and dropped out. 40% of self-made millionaires in the UK are dyslexic. People with ADHD are estimated to be up to 500% more likely to become entrepreneurs. Karp himself is dyslexic. He built a $370 billion company. And he’s saying the system that filtered him out, the standardized tests, the credential pipelines, the interview formats designed for neurotypical candidates, is about to become even more obsolete as AI eats every routine cognitive task those systems were built to evaluate. The bet is simple: AI commoditizes average. The people who see patterns no one else sees, who obsess for 14 hours on a problem everyone else quit after 2, who build IKEA’s naming system because the “normal” approach didn’t work for their brain, those are the ones who can’t be replaced by a model. Karp is recruiting them while everyone else is still writing job descriptions that screen them out.

🚨 Palantir CEO urges people to skip elite colleges, saying “unless you’re neurodivergent”, the only path left is skilled trades.

🚨 Are you paying attention to what Karpathy just admitted.. the founding member of OpenAI.. the guy who trained the models you use every day.. just said every single LLM has the same problem.. ask it one question two months ago and it treats it like your entire identity.. oh wait.. you mentioned crypto once in January? congratulations.. you're now a crypto guy forever.. you also asked about a recipe? every conversation starts with "as someone who enjoys cooking.." these models don't remember you.. they stereotype you.. off a single data point.. we gave AI a photographic memory and forgot to give it the ability to forget.. and forgetting is the most human thing there is..
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

One common issue with personalization in all LLMs is how distracting memory seems to be for the models. A single question from 2 months ago about some topic can keep coming up as some kind of a deep interest of mine with undue mentions in perpetuity. Some kind of trying too hard.

@vashikoo I was just telling my daughter to see the film other day. If you want to be a filmmaker, you should at least see films like Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Chinatown, etc. Theres so much one can learn that applicable to storytelling, and filmmaking, today.

Whew… Richard Dreyfus’s wife in Close Encounters - He trashes the house, traumatizes her and the kids, kisses some other woman and runs off to see aliens without her. Id never forgive him. It’s a good thing he left the planet. Thats the only place he’d be safe.
