@IndianaBrunner The faith was once for all delivered to the saints. Which denomination out there has that faith to the exclusion of all others?

Cleave to Every Wind of Doctrine is at it again… This is a common tactic of false religions and sects. They first create a problem that Scripture itself never creates, then present themselves as the only solution. In this case, the alleged problem is: “Without an infallible interpreter, Christians cannot know the truth.” Yet Scripture never teaches that the church needs an infallible authority outside of Scripture in order to understand God’s Word. Instead, Scripture itself is presented as the God-breathed standard by which all teachings are tested (Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 3:16–17). The Pharisees were held accountable to Scripture. The Bereans were commended as noble for examining Scripture. Neither group possessed an infallible interpretive authority. The problem is manufactured so that the false institution can present itself as the solution.

I’ve never understood Catholic or Orthodox apologists. The moment they move beyond exclusively quoting “infallible” Church teachings and begin explaining what those teachings mean, they’re doing the very thing they accuse Protestants of doing: “relying on your own interpretation.” Even more confusing are the apologists who appeal to Scripture or historical sources that have never been “infallibly” interpreted by their Church. In those cases, they’re simply offering their own concoction of evidence while insisting Protestants cannot do the same.

Which logo design do you like best? I’m currently developing a brand identity for a church in the Pacific Northwest. They want mountains and/or trees, and a cross included in their design with inviting natural greens / off whites. Thanks in advance for your vote!

I’m a Southern Baptist, but last week I had the opportunity to take part in an event with President Harrison as well as Dr. Russell Dawn, president of Concordia University. I hope to write something more substantive about this in the near future, but I believe the willingness of these men to ruffle feathers of theological progressives in their midst and police the boundaries of their denomination for subversive teaching is probably a factor in why this is true. What I learned about their courageous, principled leadership was encouraging not just to me personally but also an object lesson for other denominations in how to be firm but loving. One example—Dr. Dawn eliminated DEI officers and shuttered the Women and Genders Studies Department. And he did it while enduring protests, lawsuits, social media firestorms, online petitions, and even threats. I’m going to share some of this at TPUSA Educator Summit. And after that will try to turn into proper article.

The LCMS under President Harrison has maintained one of the highest convert to cradle ratios in American Christianity, with 1 in 3 LCMS members being converts. This number is substantially higher than that of both Baptists and Roman Catholics.

Protestants were the first Mormons What you believe as a Protestant was invented between the 16th and 21st centuries and was never believed by the historic Christian church in the first over 1500 years of Christianity - just like Mormon, Seventh Day Adventist, and Jehovah's Witness doctrines.

Here we see a Catholic priest preaching fire and brimstone, not against sin, but against all who are not Roman Catholic and who do not regularly participate in the Mass and the Eucharist. Perhaps he should read the words of Christ Himself. The Apostle John said, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” Jesus answered: “Do not stop him… For the one who is not against us is for us.”
— Mark 9:38–40 Notice the issue: “He was not following us.” That is exactly the institutional instinct Christ corrected. The man was acting in Christ’s name, yet he was not part of the visible company of the apostles. Jesus did not say, “Condemn him.” He said, “Do not stop him.” So before Rome declares every Protestant and Orthodox believer outside Christ because they are not in communion with Rome, perhaps Rome should listen again to Christ. The Church belongs to Jesus Christ. Not to the Roman Pontiff. #CatholicX

If you are not in the Catholic Church receiving the Eucharist as a Catholic, the chances of you going to Heaven are very, very slim. This is just the truth. I don't care how this truth makes you feel, but you just gotta be Catholic if you are serious about going to Heaven. There is no salvation outside of the church instituted by Jesus Christ.

An Open Letter to Southern Baptists: I have been a Baptist my entire life, but I only became a Southern Baptist three years ago when I began serving as a pastor at the Hillcrest Baptist Church. At that time, I had very little understanding of who they were or how they operated, but what I have found are people who believe the Bible, preach the Word, live honest and humble lives, and believe in spreading the Gospel to the world through any means possible. This morning, the messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention made a historic decision. This vote was not just about women pastors; it was about making a stand for the Word of God. The office of the Pastor being held solely by men is the critical point in refusing to step down the slippery slope of denying the Bible and falling into apostasy. History shows that no organized denomination has ever taken that step and come back from it. By a nearly 3/4 majority, our messengers decided to plant a flag on this issue. And I want to be 100% clear, I agree with this decision wholeheartedly. It is time for our generation to take a firm stand. There can be no more sideline commentators—only believers who stand solely on what the Bible says, not what the culture dictates. We stand on the shoulders of men like Criswell, Rogers, and Stanley, who fought in their generation to reclaim the Convention from liberal apostates. Now, that same spirit tries to slither its way back in. It is time to crush the head of the serpent once and for all and let the world know that we stand unashamedly, believing every word of the Bible. Our forefathers died because of their belief in this blessed Book; the least we can do is live for it. Some say this decision marginalizes women, but that is not true. I cannot speak for all Southern Baptist women, but the precious women of God in my congregation believe this was the right decision—not because I say so, but because they believe the Bible. This move will no doubt cause some to leave the Convention. While some may see this as a loss, it is no different than a surgeon removing a cancerous tumor; you are losing something that was once a part of you, but it was only going to cause further harm in the long term. So, in light of this, we stand. In the face of opposition, we stand. When the winds of culture blow against us, we stand. When others disagree, we stand. Let us boldly preach the Word, live holy and humble lives, and make our stand until our time on this earth is done or the Lord Jesus descends from heaven to call us home. Until Christ returns, Tyler Gaulden

The SBC couldn’t infringe on a church’s autonomy if it tried. If you’ve ever voted to remove a church, you agree the SBC holds that right in its own autonomy. If you think the current issue is not a sufficient breach, then make that argument. But it’s not a breach of autonomy.

Al Mohler has been the most influential Southern Baptist for the last 30 years. And in an effort to cement his legacy as the hero of the story, he introduced the Mohler Amendment to ban female pastors. But after hearing a tidal wave of feedback, Al Mohler has decided to neuter his own amendment to ban female pastors, instead codifying a glaring loophole. The new version allows female pastors as long as the job title isn’t too obvious and they preach not to the regular Sunday congregation. All other preaching is within bounds, and all other functions, exercising authority, are in play because of Mohler’s reductionist view of what a pastor is. Mohler pitches this as a truly unifying addition. But many backers of the original will back out at the updated version because if it passes, female pastors would be here to stay in the Southern Baptist Convention, just under a different name, and the messengers will not allow further reform, thinking that the battle has been won. Al Mohler sees himself as the hero in the Southern Baptist Convention, but his toothless amendment is an ego-driven subversion of a Southern Baptist distinctive.
