The problem in my opinion is the remake was advertised as "faithful" when it really isn't in the slightest, if I could turn these new features off, why not build the remake without them?

Why do you keep trying to push the narrative that these aren’t just ports of the games when everything indicates that’s what they are? That they’re something much bigger like FOV slider etc? It's happening. That's not up for debate.
HOW it's happening is still up in the air.
Activision seemingly wants to build trust with the community going forward, but the only way people will know MW4 was worth trusting in will be by playing/watching until the end of its life cycle.
People are going to be waiting for the other shoe to drop in the form of goofy skins and P2W DMZ bundles all year...
If Activision sets a widely popular new precedent with two of the most popular CoD games in the franchise... They will have gained community trust before even officially revealing the MP for MW4.

@The_One_Boom When you think about it, and the current chain of events, these releasing in any capacity makes absolutely 0 sense. They just announced mw4, showed it at games fest, did their reveal for DMZ, preorders went live, launch date is in 4 months. They want all the focus on that.
