Even as a member of team TACO, I did not expect Trump to walk away from Venezuela and let the VP take over, and I did not expect him to just say IDGAF that Hormuz is closed.

@profplum99 People have lost their sense of humor. This chant has been used by high academic schools against their sportier rivals for decades.

I just realized “TACO” (Trump Always Chickens Out) doesn’t really make sense. It assumes the first, most outlandish statement was the actual goal. What if that’s just the opening anchor? Then the “walk-back” isn’t chickening out, it’s landing the deal somewhere inside the range he created…

The best thing we can do for our kids right now is to just let them be kids. Kids are getting cell phones sooner than any generation before them, screen times are up while real human connection is down, and foundational skills aren’t being taught enough these days. We need to take a step back. It’s why I just signed a bipartisan bill into law, requiring cursive handwriting to once again be taught in PA public schools. It’s also why I’ve called on the legislature to pass a bill requiring schools to both implement a bell-to-bell cell phone ban and guarantee recess for every Pennsylvania student.  Let’s continue our work to set young people on a path to success — and let our kids be kids.

@liftblog It’s so big that it basically is the broader ski industry. Same with Alterra, whose chart would look more or less the same if public.

Nearly 500,000 views and hundreds of replies later, it’s clear people equate Vail Resorts with the broader ski industry. The two are not the same. Many ski resorts and ski resort companies are thriving.

@BeenThereCap People cannot analyze Trump correctly because they confuse what he is doing with how they feel about it. Your post is spot on.

Wow, this post generated a record number of quick angry "you're wrong" replies. (My usual number is 0; even 1 is unusual.) I'm describing what actually just happened, not cheerleading it. Trump is in fact framing the Europeans as 80-year free-riders. Go whine about it elsewhere.

Interesting datapoint from KKR Co-CEO: “The largest 100 U.S. companies in the United States have seen their margins expand materially in the last 5 years, 14% to 19%. The next 1,400 companies have had their margins flat and are working to stay even.“

Send your kids to private schools because of the culture, and not just among the kids and families. After leaving public schools it was refreshing to have teachers and staff put kids first.
EconstratPB@EconstratPB

Everyone who has put their kid through private knows this bc there’s an admissions process that basically groups the same kinds of kids. Front row kids from wealthy parents only. ✅ Bonus points for not being chopped (ugly). ✅ And this is why it’s worth it, contra to @dollarsanddata I don’t make the rules.

"Years from now, it will be obvious why ... as we faced high-powered technologies and political ideologies aimed at paving the way for their dominance over humans, what emerged ... was an intense, global debate about, of all things, Zionism." Brilliant essay by @alananewhouse for @tabletmag.

@moultano That’s to be expected. It’s the parents who don’t know it can be any other way that are the problem.

It's hard to put into words just how extreme the heatwave coming to California and the Western US is going to be. This truly ranks among the most extraordinary heatwaves the United States has ever seen. One perfect example: Palm Springs is forecast to hit 111°F next Friday. That would smash the US record high for the month of March by 3 degrees. It would also be 7 degrees warmer than any other March day Palm Springs has ever seen. Head a little farther south into Coachella Valley, and the town of Thermal is forecast to reach 113°F, which would tie the record for the hottest temperature ever recorded in the US in April. And this would happen on March 20th. Thermal's hottest March day on record is 103°F. Breaking a monthly record by 10 degrees is virtually unheard of. I could go on and on with statistics about how absurd this event is, but this heatwave is the word "unprecedented" at its most literal.
