Because Trump's ideology changed, and if there's nothing else that's been proven of late, it's that the MAGA following is almost cult-like and if you disagree with the fearless leader then you're a pariah. Trump was pro-Massie for a long time until Trump started pushing policy that wasn't what Massie ever ran on, and Massie stuck to his guns. He went down swinging on the principles he always preached instead of bending the knee with the rest of MAGA. I'm not saying I agree with Massie 100% of the time, but he's a shitload more consistent than the POTUS. Also, don't forget the monstrous influx of spending from PACs aimed at boomers who can't tell the difference between AI and reality.
