I'm not upset that Marilyn left the Conservative Party. What upsets me is the overt insult to all of our collective intelligences. Her talking to everyone like we're all blind, deaf and dumb as though the internet doesn't somehow exist. Your legacy Marilyn... Tragic! 🤡

I don’t need to speculate ‘something seems very off in Canadian democracy and governance, media’ because I have already documented numerous cases. But the sense that foreign interference/crime is much much broader and more sophisticated than I understand, is a humbling thought.

@GinnyRothTO So maybe that is why the Libs and the media want Pierre gone. Pierre has earned our support.

This isn’t to say that the health of the party depends on one person. My concern is that the post merger CPC requires a leader who understands and can speak for western Canadians, fiscal conservatives, social conservatives and increasingly, young working people. Those wanting a leadership change seem to want to pursue a strategy that would surely alienate these types of party members and conservative voters. And I think that would ultimately lead to the fracturing of the party.
Ginny Roth@GinnyRothTO

I genuinely believe that a Poilievre departure would very likely result in the party splitting.

@jillyonthehilly No, I think the people who voted CPC are still very much supportive of Pierre and his leadership.

Poilievre is slamming the PM, accusing him of making backroom deals to force a Liberal majority But with four Tory MPs now having crossed the floor, and polls showing CPC support trailing the LPC by double digits, Poilievre's leadership is facing some tough questions #cdnpoli

Conservatives Members Of Parliament Crossing The Floor To Become Liberals: Those MPs Were BOUGHT I don't think we can end Floor Crossings because it's just too hard, it's almost a Constitutional change But look at WHY people elected to represent one party switch parties 2/

CTV REPORTER: How many of your MPs do you have to lose to the Libs before reflecting on your political future as leader. POILIEVRE: My leadership does not come from dirty backroom deals. It comes from the people of Canada. Record-breaking 8.3 MILLION people voted Conservative & 87% backed Poilievre's leadership less than 90 days ago.

In recent months, the B.C. government delivered 1,000 coffees to lure U.S. nurses to come work in Canada, spending $165,000—that’s $165 per coffee. And governments think they can run a grocery store efficiently?

I had a call with @OttawaPolice today. I was told if I don't delete my X posts where I say Mosques in Occupied Iran are hubs of terrorism and should be bombed, I would be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada. So I deleted my posts. Meanwhile, Mosques in Occupied Iran:

It's easy to look at Marilyn Gladu's long history of unabashedly conservative positions and be surprised at her decision today, but the kind of person who would abandon their principles overnight for a whiff of power clearly belongs with the Liberals.

Presumably the Prime Minister (with his much-touted intellect) knows and understands that his actions are undermining Canada’s multi-party democratic system, and slowly destroying voter confidence in elections. One can only conclude, therefore, that he simply doesn’t care.☹️
J.J. McCullough@JJ_McCullough

I really don’t understand how Canadians are supposed to make an informed vote if party-switching is standard practice. Are we supposed to vote for MPs who promise really hard to never switch parties? Running for a party is supposed to BE the proof of their loyalty to that party!

I can say with complete confidence that Canada and Canadians would be significantly better off today if @PierrePoilievre had become Prime Minister. Losing him as our leader would be a real tragedy for the country.

@pdrobertson Carney will open doors for her after her term. Time will reveal the deal she struck with Carney. This is opportunism! This says so much about our PM. He will do anything bec he believes in nothing … but lining his and coterie’s pockets with net zero $. Oh Canada.

You can speculate about what motivated Marilyn Gladu to cross the floor to the Carney Liberals. But you can't say it was opportunism. She won her riding with 53% of the vote. One has to wonder: what exactly is the number of CPC MPs needed to bail before caucus starts asking really uncomfortable questions?

Every time there is a floor-crossing, Carney and the Liberals will try to make it about anything but the truth: this is a battle between Carney-style cynicism versus those who believe politics should be about upholding sincere principles and values. jamiljivani.substack.com/p/the-cynical-…

Liberals will say they are one big, broad tent. But tents have stakes in the ground that don’t move. What the Liberal Party actually is, in fact, is a bedsheet, tenuously tied to a flagpole, flapping in whichever direction the wind happens to be blowing theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
