It was always about the players, the incredible coaching relationships. To be able to impact a life. I pray I accomplished what really mattered, why I was called to coach-to invest, to teach, to challenge, to pour love into a few thousand young men I was blessed to do life with.

@TheBigGuyWJCL Transfer Portal is out of control. No limits, no control measures. You are correct, it is about the money…all about money. Playing for 2,3,4 schools. Coaches have hard job in the first place but revamping rosters each year is insane. Depth chart? Who knows ?

Billy. Billy. Helton’s system isn’t broken. College football isn’t about culture these days. It’s money. If you don’t have enough to give, you are out of luck. Plain and simple. Why would student-athlete stay in one place when he can go someplace else plus get extra $$$$

Some incredibly disappointing takes out there! @IndianaFootball certainly didn't play their best while @NDFootball was terrific However, IU played better than - @AlabamaFTBL getting their doors blown off by 6-6 OU - @OleMissFB giving Kentucky their only P4 win

@jimshapiro I would add having an administration that supports this position helps greatly. Had 3 great ones over my years who would back this stance. The others not so much.

I’ve coached high school football for 30 years and have had ZERO parent drama…and I mean zero. How?? I established a simple rule day 1 of my coaching career. DURING the season, I will not talk to parents about their son’s playing time, position or the plays that are called. AFTER or BEFORE the season I’m happy to sit down and talk football. It’s the athletes job to talk to his coach about those things. Ask questions, gain an understanding. Learn how to communicate! If you can build trust with your athletes, create space for parent conversations outside the season, the stress and pressure of the season won’t be ruined by some parent who thinks they know better than you.
