Members of the European Parliament, you have 48 hours to remove forest biomass from the EU's Renewable Energy Directive. If you don't, you will lock in increased emissions, biodiversity loss and human rights violations all while calling it 'climate friendly’. #StopFakeRenewables

🇪🇸 @SEO_BirdLife ❌The payment to create space for nature on arable land is ridiculously low, making it unlikely that farmers implement it. ❌ 40% of the budget allocated to agri-environment measures on arable land go to measures already required by environmental regulations.

🇪🇸 @SEO_BirdLife ❌The CSP continues to pour money into intensive systems and fails to support High Nature Value systems, leading to their intensification or abandonment.

🇵🇱 @OTOP_tweets ❌ 50% of the permanent grasslands in Natura2000 areas are protected by the ban on converting and ploughing this valuable habitat.

🇵🇱 @OTOP_tweets ❌ Failure to put in place immediate and effective protection of wetlands and peatlands. ❌ The schemes that aim to improve biodiversity on farms have been removed without proposing alternatives. Other good schemes are seriously underfunded.

🇮🇪 @BirdWatchIE ⚠️ The CSP includes significant improvements for biodiversity, but to make sure these will be implemented investments in information exchange and advisory services for farmers are needed.

🇮🇪 @BirdWatchIE ❌Only around 7% of 🇮🇪 CAP budget aids farmers to restore farmland biodiversity, prevent water pollution & reduce greenhouse gas & ammonia emissions. These crumbs will only support 20,000 of the 130,000 farmers.

🇫🇷 @LPOFrance ❌ The vast majority of CAP subsidies are still very harmful for biodiversity. ❌ There is no significant budget to support the transition towards agro-ecological practises. ❌Failure to put in place effective measures for pesticides reduction.

🚨 Today, the first CAP Strategic Plans are adopted for🇩🇰, 🇫🇮, 🇪🇸,🇫🇷, 🇮🇪, 🇵🇱 & 🇵🇹. Agriculture is one of the key drivers for biodiversity loss. Despite political promises, the new CPSs fail to drive the much-needed transition towards sustainable agriculture 💀 🐝🌱
