I wonder why we don't have yet a stream streamable json encoder/decoder as part of the json php's api. Very handy to reduce mem footprint or speed at time.

@hluehrsen @jrf_nl @ewbarnard These are supplied by third-party vendors. E.g. Ubuntu 20.04 still ships PHP 7.4, and is supported until 2030. Plenty of time. :)

@jrf_nl @ewbarnard Great read. I really live the idea of lts php versions. I think an LTS PHP 7.4 would alleviate a lot of worries php devs have at the moment.

Recommended reading with ✨🌟✨!!! I fully concur and support what @ewbarnard writes here and would like to reiterate what I've been saying for quite a while: with the current pace of PHP development, userland cannot keep up. Something needs to give.

A nice little self-running PHP gist.github.com/DenesKellner/9… Windows is painfully lacking the shebang feature from Linux, but with this little trick you can create a PHP that's also a valid MSDOS batch so it can be run from console, just by its name.

⛔ As of today, PHP 7.4, and with that PHP 7 is no longer supported. 🆙 Please upgrade to PHP 8.0, or preferably the latest PHP 8.1 release, 8.1.13. 🆕 PHP 8.2 comes out on December 8th!

@derickr On the bright side, I recently figured out why the command monitoring tests never passed on Windows: jira.mongodb.org/browse/CDRIVER… "The resolution of the GetTickCount64 function is limited to the resolution of the system timer, which is typically in the range of 10 to 16 milliseconds"

Couldn't have picked better timing to migrate our Windows builds from AppVeyor to GitHub Actions. I've never seen this before and I hope to never see it again.
