Ah shit.. Here we go again. ♾ With $ICP's Chain-Key approach, there's no bridge contract holding admin-level control over token minting on a destination chain. Cross-chain messages are verified cryptographically at the protocol level using threshold signatures. A forged all-zeros commitment simply cannot pass. No valid subnet signature = message doesn't exist. With MPC bridges like Hyperbridge, you're trusting that a state proof check was implemented correctly in a smart contract. One bug, one zero-filled commitment, and the attacker owns the mint. Chain-Key tokens like ckBTC and ckETH on ICP work differently: the "bridge" logic lives inside ICP's consensus layer itself, not in an external contract that can be tricked with a forged message. There is no "changeAdmin" call to exploit because no single contract has that power. Ronin, Wormhole, Nomad, Hyperbridge, they all share the same root failure. Chain-Key doesn't patch that vulnerability. It eliminates the attack surface entirely.

The only reason this wasn't a total DOT killer? The pool was too shallow and 1 billion tokens overwhelmed the available liquidity and the price collapsed instantly Basically just good luck and certainly not good security measures And before anyone calls this an edge case: Ronin: $600M Wormhole: $320M Nomad: $190M Drift: $280M last month Same attack surface, different day Bridges hold admin-level control over token contracts on destination chains. One validation failure doesn't just trigger an alarm, it hands someone the keys to the mint CertiK confirmed the attack vector already Hyperbridge hasn't said a word about whether other bridged token contracts using the same gateway are vulnerable This is the bridge problem and we're nowhere close to solving it 😕 Mass adoption? We can't safely move assets between chains because most bridges and overall Web3 security standards are a dumpster fire Today's $237K accident is next month's $237M

Iran wants to be paid in Bitcoin. Interesting. Isn't $XRP faster than banks? Isn't $SOL faster than VISA? Isn't $ETH programmable and cheap? Isn't $USDC stable and fast? Maybe "speed" is just marketing. Maybe "finality" is what matters when it comes to money (and thus freedom). Money is worthless if it can be sanctioned, censored, confiscated, have a network hiccup, have issuers who black-list wallets, or exchanges delist them. Iran doesn't care how fast your money is if they can't reliably receive it, hang on to it, and spend it in the future. It's that simple.
