The basic strategy Reform should have adopted was to say "There are dozens of joke candidates in this race. Count Binface is one, and we wish him well, He at least has the courage to stand, unlike the mainstream parties". Instead, they've set the attack machine on him. Madness.

@DPJHodges It also puts to bed the idea of 4D chess and the other parties playing into Farage’s hands. He didn’t foresee this eventuality because it is inconceivable to him that he isn’t always the biggest story in town. In his mind everyone would jump at the chance to try and beat him.

This goes to the heart of a lot of the current anger inside Reform. That such a seismic decision was essentially taken on the fly, by a tiny group of Farage's key aides. Reflects wider concern within the party over how Reform is managed.

Farage called a by-election before the people of Clacton have the facts, before the outcome of multiple investigations into Farage (and members of Reform) some criminal. He wants them to make a blind uninformed decision based on zero evidence which is, in itself, wholly corrupt.

@jessicaelgot Count Binface is not an MP. If he gets elected then we have every right to know who funds him and who has funded him in the year running up the by election. This point seems to have escaped the Reform stans

I don't think anyone funds Count Binface because there is nothing to fund. He doesn't do any campaigning. He just puts a bin on his head and goes to the by-election count.

It was noticeable that there was practically no enforced fan segregation in the stands at the Aztecca. This is the reason, it’s simply not needed. The Mexican fan guard of honour for the England fans shows everyone else how watching football can be. Elite fans the Mexicans 👏👏👏

The sad thing for @USMNT is that during the World Cup, they’d actually won over lots of fans with the way they played and the exciting group of players they’d assembled. Trump’s intervention meant the whole footballing world were rooting against them and celebrating their exit.

Credit where credit is due, I was quick to criticise the squad that Tuchel selected but across the five games, every substitution he's made has improved the team in that moment, and every squad player who's come on has made a contribution. Almost like Tuchel knows better than us
