@brockpierson We had a network tech back in the day running a Napster server in the office. Good times. Haha!

@davepl1968 Much patience learned in my teens rebuilding the Quadrajet on my 79 Trans Am.

Have you taken apart and recurved a dual advance distributor?
Have you looked inside a Quadrajet carburetor? One time, in the Old Testament, Moses rebuilds one, and even he has a few parts left over.
You'd be crying for your microcontroller in about 3 minutes.

@exQUIZitely Used to have to rearrange config.sys and autoexec.bat manually to get as much as you could into high memory. Memmaker was a great help once it was released.

How to play games back in the day:
✅ Know autoexec.bat
✅ Know config.sys
✅ Know your DOS prompts
✅ Know himem.sys
✅ Know EMM386 and QEMM
✅ Pray that your sound card works properly
✅ IRQ 5 or 7? DMA 1? Address 220? Good luck!
✅ Pray that your base memory is high enough
✅ Pray that you have enough hard drive space
✅ Jumper settings on every new card
✅ Have different boot menus
Kids today will never know the satisfaction of finally getting Wing Commander, Doom, SimCity 2000, or X-Wing running after three hours of tinkering. What a time to be alive (and mildly traumatized).

@JesterJum Every 5k on my diesel or it’s close to shearing out of grade. Maybe for gasoline cars but not for a modern diesel with EGR.

@Sassafrass_84 I stick to the stations where I can use their app on my phone to authorize the pump. Skip the card completely.

@davepl1968 Looks a bit like the trading desk at the old Enron building.

@davepl1968 @DavisMattek Probably because it doesn’t appeal to one’s feelings, but more so to one’s intellect and world view.
English

@DavisMattek It's full of torturous bloviation, but it's an important story. For a lot of liberals, though, it's like nerds reading a book about jocks. They can't do it.

Atlas Shrugged is so bad and poorly written that the Simpsons parody of it didn't even have to change any of the names, plotting, or inherent philosophy to make it funny
Brian Armstrong@brian_armstrong
A few good books worth reading: - Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - a classic that celebrates builders. Once you read it, you’ll notice the same characters and events taking place today. - The Changing World Order by Ray Dalio - great for understanding how civilizations rise and fall and how crypto can help create better countries. - From Third World to First by Lee Kuan Yu (founder of Singapore) - talks about building a new country, worth reading for understanding nation-building.
