@faezephyr EVERYONE understands the statement, why would male patriarchal advantages not apply to a man? The issue is that when a statement is so obvious, people tend to question why it's being said. Gay is an umbrella term that can refer to all minority sexual orientations, black isn't

@faezephyr You sound bitter about victims of racial injustice, claiming to be victims... And I never said she wasn't correct, she made a factual statement made in bad faith to make black men out to be a general threat to womanhood. Yall incels are so tribal you're willing to defend racism.

@bylercrackhouse No shit. But Gay men and men of color are two different demographics. She singled out the black population out of the "men of color" demographic...🫩

@nee2054 The point was that men who face oppression still have the lrivlahe of being men. She said black men instead of POC but she alaknsaid gay men so you can't really say she singled out. Of men of color black men experience the most racial discrimination

@bylercrackhouse @BaconBaeritto Respectfully disagree, I personally believe that behavioral suppression and social suppression are much more omnipresent forms of oppression. Also if that's the case, the threat we as black men pose to white woman isn't systemic, it's individual.

@nee2054 @BaconBaeritto That's like saying white woman can't really impress because the y do it socially, when in fact that's how black men experience the majority of their opression.

@bylercrackhouse Indeed, but she singled out black men when it's universal to all men. This was a clear cut invitation to start looking at black men sideways as a threat to women when black systemic oppression has removed nearly ALL advantages black men have over women who aren't their own.

@nee2054 She said the experience male privilege. They do. She experiences white privilege. Given different social setting and situations one may be more privileged than the other, but they still face oppression systemically, and violence socially. That’s not controversial that’s just true

@BaconBaeritto @nee2054 That's just not how it works. If I said black men aren't oppressed because their not women that doesn't work. I can't say rich black people aren't oppressed because they are rich. It doesn't work like that. As a woman she is and always will be oppressed by patriarchy

@Manstarlol Yes, but when people are talking about male privilege, they're usually talking about male patriarchal advantages (in the workplace, social gatherings, healthcare) most of don't apply due to the general perception of black men in America as violent ticking time bombs.

@nee2054 I think privilege isn't a complete ordering, it's partial ordering. You can't compare black men's privilege with white women's privilege but what you can say is that white women can be racist towards black men and black men can be misogynist towards white women. Both are true.

@rcefelon Nobody should. But to specifically imply, as a white woman, that black men have the social leverage to pose a significant threat to womanhood and gender equality beyond their own limited spaces speaks to a GROSS lack of self-awareness.

@nee2054 no way ppl are disagreeing with this though. men of color and black men DO have male privilege. and with those privileges comes certain benefits that women don’t get. it’s the same concept that all white PEOPLE have white privilege.
