The left/right political spectrum doesn’t model reality. What we observe is clusters of ideas; if you hold one idea in the cluster, you’re likely to hold others. Currently in western countries, there are two major clusters, which I call the Left and the Normal People. You can probably identify the ideas in these two clusters. Note that what you would call Normal are those held by the vast majority of people until the last few decades. These clusters aren’t stable: ideas become more or less popular and associated to others over time. White supremacy may be an example: widely held to some degree a century ago, it’s now an outlier. The inverse, white racial guilt, is a firm member of the Leftist cluster. This is why, although not all leftists are racist, most racists are leftist.

One of Shrier’s observations that really resonated with me: Before I had kids, the sounds and smells of other people’s kids on airplanes used to seriously irritate me. Now that I am a father, being on a plane with other people’s kids doesn’t bother me at all. Loud adults on planes bothered me just as much before I became a father as after.

Craig Kelly:🇦🇺Foundation for Economic Education
Moira Deeming just got executed by the Victorian Liberal left. She’s done. No longer even on their ticket. Tony Abbott tried to warn them, that it was a "death wish" - so now the lefty Liberals will reap what they‘ve sown. They’ve pushed Moria Deeming to One Nation and thousands more long-standing Liberals will now move to One Nation. If she decides to run in the Victorian Upper House as One Nation, she‘ll bolt in - and outpoll the Liberals by a country mile. theguardian.com/australia-news…

@TheStingisBack It’s bad for a Tom Cruise movie. But Tom elevated any movie he’s in above a Razzie level. I’m sure there were MANY worse films that year!

Cocktail (1988) won a Razzie for Worst Film of the Year, and I demand a recount. It shaped bar culture. It looks gorgeous, you get Elisabeth Shue AND Gina Gershon, an ultra-charismatic Bryan Brown, and Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise-type things. That bad? Or do we love it a little?

wow. The Middle East Forum analyzed 1,378 news articles covering the war and found... 98% cited Gaza Ministry of Health figures. Only 5% mentioned Israeli casualty figures for combatants killed. The New York Times cited militant casualty numbers in 0% of its articles analyzed. CNN and the Guardian managed 1%. Only 15% of all articles even noted that Hamas doesn't distinguish combatants from civilians in its data. HonestReporting found that over a four-month period (February-May 2024), 84% of major English-language publications failed to make the combatant-civilian distinction in their total casualty numbers. The effect is that every figure gets absorbed by the audience as a civilian death count. The framing compounds the numbers problem. Journalists routinely cited aggregate totals as purely civilian. CNN's Fareed Zakaria referenced "35,000 civilians dying." CBS's Major Harrison Mann asked, "I don't know how you kill 35,000 civilians by accident." The UN itself produced videos titled "25,000 Civilians Killed" without distinguishing combatants. Meanwhile, asymmetric source scrutiny was the norm. Hamas figures were questioned in roughly 1% of articles. IDF data was challenged in 50% of the limited cases where Israeli sources were cited at all. Nearly 20% of articles cited GHM numbers without even attributing them to Hamas.

Since @dilanesper has chosen to block me from replying to the tweet below, I will have to respond in this manner. CNN and other mainstream media has engaged in deliberate hoaxes of Israeli atrocities before, either simply by reporting Palestinian hoaxes uncritically or actively creating them. From the al Ahri hospital “attack” to false claims of Israel targeting journalists (later admitted to being Hamas operatives but not reported so that the original falsehood stands) there’s evidence that the media are both dishonest and highly partisan. Given the dearth of real Israeli atrocities, it’s safest to assume that any ones reported by the MSM are just more hoaxes until independent evidence proves otherwise.

@dilanesper It is incalculable the harm the media has done to its credibility by its false reporting on Gaza. I’m inclined to assume that the CNN deliberately provoked this incident.

🚨 𝗠𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗔 𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗭𝗜, 18, was arrested in Iran for protesting. She was sentenced to death for “moharebeh” (“waging war against God”). She was beaten, held in solitary, and refused to stay silent in court. Reports indicate she may have been executed on Nowruz, but I’m not totally confident in the sources. I can verify that Melika, this 18-year-old girl, was sentenced to death for defiance by the Islamic terror regime in Iran. Stay connected, follow @MOSSADil.

The things some people will do to get out of an unpleasant job.
Susan Crabtree@susancrabtree

🚨SECRET SERVICE SCOOP: New details about the agent who shot himself earlier today while accompanying Jill Biden to the Philly airport. The agent was apparently rushing and fumbling around after forgetting his cell phone in the SUV, sources told @RCPolitics. The agent was only one week on the job with the Jill Biden detail. He was in the SUV behind the one Biden was traveling in. He left to accompany Jill Biden through the airport, but soon realized he forgot his cell phone. The agent rushed back to get it, and his pistol fell out of the holster and was lying on the seat. He grabbed his pistol quickly and negligently fired it as he was trying to put it back in the holster. The agent shot his butt cheek. He went to the hospital where he is recovering and is expected to be released later today.

BREAKING: We just received a legal letter from a West Sydney NDIS business accusing us of defamation and ANTI-MUSLIM HATE SPEECH. They threatened us with these insane allegations because we pointed out that their official NDIS business page advertises NDIS funded Quran classes alongside videos showing off luxury Mercedes sports cars. The business appears to have hired some weird Lebanese lawyer named Tom Zreika to sign off on the legal threats. His professional legal business page includes multiple posts pledging support to the Iranian government. What a country. @PeteZogoulas

This. I used to wonder why @ConceptualJames spent so much time criticising what he called the Woke Right. I no longer wonder.
Gator Gar@gatorgar

There are smarter people than me who called all of this btw People who are more articulate, better read, and have a deeper understanding of exactly what is happening. One of whom is James Lindsay. @ConceptualJames I used to say “James Lindsay is the person I hate to agree with, who’s probably right about everything.” But at this point I’m immensely proud I managed to listen to him despite how unfairly reviled he’s been. Dude deserves his day in the sun. He’s been fighting this fight longer and harder than almost anybody. Who’s James Lindsay? He’s one of the good guys.
