What on earth is preventing independent Oireachtas members from nominating Maria Steen as a Presidential candidate? What are they so afraid of? Nomination is not equivalent to endorsement. Let her run. Let’s have a contest. The primary loser in a diminished field is democracy.

At times as much as 83% of Ireland's electricity is generated from gas. Government has plans to ration electricity for weeks and months if anything happens to the single pipeline bringing gas from Britain. Another deportation flight left Dublin last night and landed safely this morning in Lagos, Nigeria. There were 35 people on board who had received but had not complied with Deportation Orders.
