Version 1.0 took a team of five 18mo on a $1m budget. Version 2.0, a complete refactor, took the CEO and Claude Code 1 week.

@bramcohen @tszzl I’ve used agents with working memory and run out of premium credits. Hey there’s this “free” model except it actually put dumb counter-productive ideas into the memory and I had to manually fix it. I would rather do everything by hand than run a poor model.

@tszzl The times when I've seen models behave extremely badly the problem wasn't that they were misaligned the problem was that they're stupid

modern alignment methods seem to work reasonably well across orders of magnitude of model scaling, survived the transition to verifiable rewards and that should at least inform your decision making
Brangus🔍⏹️@RatOrthodox

I have heard that some anthropic safety leadership are going around telling people that alignment is a solved problem. This seems like a predictable failure to me, and I would like people who thought that funneling talent towards anthropic was a good idea to think about it.

@M_Kirk @chia_project I’m actually really glad these two releases are being prioritized. My mainnet farmer is already updated. A #support issue I read in Discord recently actually sounded like one issue being experimented with in the wild.

Version 2.6.1 of the Chia reference client is now available for download. Upgrading is recommended as this release includes some critical bug fixes. As a note, we expect that we will follow this release with a 2.7.0 release shortly. Current estimate is targeting next week.

In the 1990s, when one obtained unauthorized access to a computer system for curiosity’s sake, one would e-mail the admin from the root account and let them know what they did wrong. The admin would fix it immediately due to a bruised ego. I don’t think ethical hacking has actually improved since then.

@brankopetric00 I was at a company that launched a merch store to SELL their employees branded company merchandise. Gave everyone some credit to incentivize. The vendor used IP address as the cart key. Everyone had everyone else’s items in their carts and kept deleting them.

Rate limit was set per IP address. Entire office shared one IP. 200 employees hit rate limit in 10 minutes.

@splitXCH Your concern are niche low power edge devices not being usable? This is what all the indirect, secret hullabaloo is all about?!

If you’re running a low-end full node like the Raspberry Pi4 on Chia, it is highly unlikely you could benefit from full blocks and the associated fees. With PoS2, they are pitching RPi5 as a potential new minimum. Skip right over that. If you like that form factor, shoot for an Intel NUC with a modern i3+ and at least 8 GB of RAM and NVMe. Some performance fixes I’m seeing in the GitHub will improve things. Others are introducing new pain points. If Chia starts to have more success, it will be a target for more shenanigans. Watch your logs and metrics for things that don’t look right. If you just want to be a passive participant, that’s of course your choice. But you also can’t complain that your rewards are 65% of some aspirational formula. Blockchain is the most hostile environment you can ever place a computer in. Respect that.

@Coduri5 I haven’t pulled any CPU benchmarks for it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it could work. You probably want single-threaded performance at least 10x the Raspberry Pi4 and SHA and AES extensions.

@SpeechlessZi Thank you. Do you have any estimates how often it falls out of sync or how long it takes to regain it?

@splitXCH Recently the pi4 has had issues keeping the node synced. Luckly Sage RPC has the wallet functions we needed for our application. Use to run my 100 tb farm on the pi4 with no issues but not anymore.

@GeraldNeale An example is an algorithm is switched out for another, but the second algorithm has a variant of the same problem as the first.

@steppsr Yes, but this is unfortunately about as deep as I can go right now, other than to say RPi are unlikely to be the only problematic devices.

@splitXCH Please enlighten us. Prefarm sales have halted, Gaming is accelerating at the speed of light and the team have been building non stop. @DigitalGoldTalk has got their latest proposal approved by the senate and the price seems to be building momentum.
