Upending the lives of 90+ million innocent people won’t destabilize the region at all, nor could it possibly create a migrant crisis that would lead to mass immigration to every Western country. These proclamations of "victory" by Dems are performative. The anti-ICE left-wing base does not accept defeat well. This loss will motivate the extreme left to an even greater degree to challenge incumbent in primaries over the next 4-5 months. So they need to tamp-down the disappointment that is going to rise today as reality sets in that leverage over closing down other parts of DHS has been lost without gaining any ground on the fights they want to have. The overriding goal of the extreme left out in the streets is the dismantling of ICE. They are farther away from that goal today than they were yesterday. If anything, conservative goals to get rid of TSA are closer now than they were 6 weeks ago. What the Senate vote last night was really about is that ALL of them want to go back to their states for the 2 week recess that is set to begin TODAY. Friday is "Getaway Day" for Congress before a break. Flights out of DC are booked with members getting out of town.
