Before engaging Iran on ending the war, re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, signing mutual nonaggression pacts, and examining the future of sanctions, American political philosophers should engage the Iranians on the real issues at stake such as: -Resolving the theological-political question in both Western and Islamic contexts. -Developing a shared textual hermeneutic. -Addressing the connection between instrumental reason, technology, and modernity. ⚠️Il Parlamento si prepara a modificare l'Assegno Unico Universale per i figli a carico includendo tra i beneficiari, come da diktat della Commissione UE, anche i cittadini UE non residenti in Italia e con figli all'estero. È una sconfitta netta. Ci obbliga a spendere decine di milioni di euro pubblici per minori il cui unico legame con l’Italia è un genitore che lavora qui temporaneamente o come frontaliere. Vogliamo stare nell’UE? Questo è lo scotto da pagare. Il problema più grave è un altro. Questa misura, pensata per contrastare il crollo della natalità italiana, resta aperta a qualsiasi extra-UE con un permesso di soggiorno di appena 6 mesi + 1 giorno. Oggi solo se i figli vivono in Italia; ma come è già successo con misure analoghe, è solo questione di tempo prima che i tribunali obblighino a pagarlo anche per i figli rimasti in Bangladesh o in Nigeria. Le direttive UE si possono leggere tranquillamente in questo senso. L'UE concede un po’ di margine solo sulle prestazioni puramente assistenziali e non contributive. Quindi, se si vuole davvero riservare l’AUU agli italiani (o almeno agli europei), bisognerebbe eliminare l’universalità e trasformarlo in un aiuto selettivo solo per gli indigenti. Ma dove non arriva Bruxelles, arriva la “Costituzione più bella del mondo”. Come già accaduto per le case popolari, alcuni giudici sono pronti a invocare l’art. 3 per dire che Mario Rossi, italiano da generazioni, non può avere nessuna priorità rispetto a Mohammed arrivato qui due anni fa. Anche se l’art. 3 non dice questo, si fa finta che lo dica: ormai è un'interpretazione consolidata. E non si può nemmeno modificarlo, perché la Corte Costituzionale ha deciso che certi principi sono intoccabili (anche se la Costituzione stessa non lo afferma). Capite quanto ristretto sia il margine di manovra d'un governo?
