@TheGriftReport I personally think in some circumstances that someone should be able to access assisted end of life if terminally ill. That would allow the person to go with some dignity and be at peace instead of suffering unnecessarily and the pain of others such as spouse, family etc

Assisted dying bill could be resurrected and forced into law using the 'nuclear option' after supporters handed dramatic second opportunity. The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which would allow terminally ill adults in England and Wales with fewer than six months to live to access assisted death after medical and legal approval, previously passed the Commons under Labour MP Kim Leadbeater but stalled in the House of Lords and ran out of time. In the latest Private Members’ Bill ballot, three of the top five MPs drawn are known supporters of the legislation, with Labour’s Lauren Edwards (drawn second) now being heavily lobbied to take it forward. Backers are openly discussing invoking the rare Parliament Act, the so-called “nuclear option” to bypass the Lords entirely and ram the bill into law if it clears the Commons again. Opponents, including some senior Labour figures, warn reviving such a complex and divisive issue via a backbench bill would be “foolish” and risk rushing through flawed legislation. The move could see state-sanctioned assisted deaths begin before the next general election. This is so wrong...

@oidonhagouda I would love to move to another country but some requirements I can't provide or I don't qualify. So I accept their decision and work harder to try and qualify before I try to apply again. I would never illegally overstay my visa because I know that wouldn't help me.

@japan_nobunaga In my experience Japanese food tastes better in Japan than the UK. I think the ingredients being fresher and the surroundings too. The food is cooked with care there, where as here it's just dumped into a bowl or on a plate

Richard Madeley has secured rare access to El Salvador’s CECOT mega-prison for a new Channel 5 documentary airing 27 May. The British broadcaster described the 40,000-capacity facility as a “living death”, saying “All will die in this prison” as he witnessed thousands of shaven-headed gang inmates crammed behind floor-to-ceiling bars in cells holding 65-70 men each. Inmates wear only boxer shorts, sleep on metal bunks stacked four-high with nothing but thin cotton sheets, spend 23.5 hours a day locked down, and have zero family visits, books, education or rehabilitation — lights stay on 24/7. President Bukele built the prison as the centrepiece of his war on the gangs that once gave El Salvador the world’s highest murder rate; locals told Madeley they are “overjoyed” the streets are now safe. Madeley acknowledges the regime breaches human rights but asks what alternative existed to reclaim the country from violent cartels — and suggests the results show what strong leadership and determination can achieve. Hmm maybe this is what UK prisons should be like?
