🇰🇼🇮🇷Iran struck a power and desalination plant in Kuwait, killing an Indian worker and causing significant damage. For context: the coalition struck two separate water-related facilities in the same wave. One was the Arak heavy water facility in Markazi province, a nuclear target. The other was the Haftkel water reservoir in Khuzestan, a 10,000-cubic-meter civilian drinking water supply. Iranian provincial authorities publicly confirmed the Haftkel strike. Iran didn't hit Kuwait's desalination plant to avenge a nuclear facility. They hit it in direct retaliation for the bombing of a civilian water reservoir. Kuwait gets over 90% of its drinking water from desalination. Qatar gets 99%. This is the most dangerous escalation pattern of the entire conflict, and it keeps repeating because whoever is choosing these targets either doesn't understand the consequences or doesn't care.
