One of the first things I saw after retiring from 22 years in the Army was just how many veterans were struggling to transition back into civilian life. That’s when I knew my public service wasn’t over yet. Congress targets programs that send benefits directly to veterans because there's less bureaucracy involved. When money goes through multiple agencies, contractors, or organizations, there are more opportunities for waste, mismanagement, and lack of accountability. Direct payments to veterans are much harder to divert or misuse.

Members of Congress need to understand that they need to be responsible stewards to American taxpayers. If Members believe another offset is preferable for H.R. 9237 – they can offer one – we cannot pretend the cost does not exist.

🚨 UPDATE ON TCAVA SUPPORT LIST 🚨 Veterans need to pay attention to who is now being listed as supporting the Take Care Of America’s Veterans Act. Mission Roll Call is now being pushed as a supporter. Here is why that matters: Mission Roll Call is tied to America’s Warrior Partnership. America’s Warrior Partnership has Daniel Gade on its board/advisory leadership. And Daniel Gade is not just some random name to disabled veterans. He has been tied to arguments that VA disability compensation can discourage work, reward inactivity, and trap veterans in a “disabled veteran” identity. That is exactly why many disabled veterans see this as controversial. This is not about attacking an organization. This is about asking a fair question: Is TCAVA being backed by rank-and-file disabled veterans who will live under this bill — or by policy networks that already believe VA disability compensation needs to be reformed? Because when a bill includes language that puts future VA rating changes, tinnitus, sleep apnea, disability caps, and wounded veteran pay at risk, veterans have every right to scrutinize every name on that supporter list. Every dollar Washington wastes is a dollar taken from a family that earned it. I have spent my entire Senate career fighting to cut spending, oppose tax hikes, and demand accountability from bureaucrats who treat your paycheck like their personal slush fund. @NTU and @taxreformer have both taken notice. 96% and an A rating prove it.

So... Lot's (I mean lot's) of #Veterans groups are coming out against Taking Care of America's Veterans Act. Objecting because it "waters down" the Major Richard Star Act (expanding current benefits for medically retired vets) and reforms disability criteria for future claimants with Tinnitus and Apnea. Here's what there against:

You believe in grace plus works which invalidates grace (Romans 11:6) and triggers Galatians 1’s anathema, saying that “we are saved by grace after all that we can DO.” You may not have realized it but your religion teaches you the same words as Christians but defines them in ways that actually reject our core beliefs. Mormons: You don’t understand us. We believe what we believe and it’s Christian. Me: I know some more modern Mormons will say they actually don’t hold to some of those things I mentioned but I have to treat Mormonism based on its Scriptures, apostles, and prophets, not its online apologists. Based on those things, it’s not Christian. Mormon (version 1): Your ignorance and attitude are offensive and harmful. We are Christians. Mormon (version 2): We are the true Christians and you are apostate. You and most Christians throughout history were not real Christians. Joseph Smith restored true Christianity after it fell away shortly after Jesus rose. Me: Jesus, the real Jesus, paid the full price for your sins on the cross. You can be saved and forgiven and live eternally with God, the one and only God, by trusting in Christ’s works and not your own. Joseph was a modern false prophet. Run from him to Jesus.
