THIS right here is why we cannot assume homecare in its current form can serve as a replacement for #LTC. It cannot.

@DecideNow_ACP @AndrewLawton How is that preferable for statistics? We're hiding the actual cause of death for anyone using MAID which means that there is now at least one death due to partial deafness in one ear. Not knowing the numbers means we can't even know about potential issues. So much for safeguards
English

@AndrewLawton In Canada, a suicide is listed on the death certificate as the manner of death. The cause will be ie, asphyxiation or toxic drugs. But by choosing to die by MAiD, “MAiD” does not appear anywhere on a death certificate. For posterity-Geneology & stats-MAiD is a preferable death.
English
@TheBreakdownAB I rarely agree with the UCP govt and I'm 100% sure that they're doing this for the wrong reasons, but it is the right move. It makes AB the first govt to come close to meeting the UN recommendations about MAID for disabled people which is currently coercive. Their AISH cuts tho..

@MCL_CA @amneetbali It isn't, actually. You just don't see it happening.
English

@HFiremoon @amneetbali The number of people starving in capitalist countries is nothing compared to how many people died in Russian gulags.
English
@MCL_CA @amneetbali How ethical is it that capitalist countries regularly murder their own people by starvation, denial of medical care, 'assisted death' and repeatedly breaching human rights?
English

@amneetbali How ethical is it that socialist governments regularly murder their own people by starvation?
Read some Solzhenitsyn FFS.
Take your power hungry murderous socialist ideology and GTFO.

"For someone like me, who isn’t dying but often wants to, I need the law to protect me: from under-resourced systems, from clinicians afraid to talk about suicide and from myself on the days when I am convinced that dying is the answer.
That, to me, is compassion."

@MaskedHottiee @julia_doubleday @eilise I'm saying that it is very common among disabled people. Endometriosis is a disability that often does significant damage by your 30s. It's just that disabled people were invisible until covid let us all see our neighbours & coworkers become disabled in front of us.
English

@HFiremoon @julia_doubleday @eilise All of those things are true, but that doesn't mean it's common for people to be forced to retire in their 30s due to medical conditions

is ADHD burnout real or did i just randomly become incapable of hard work overnight
English
@MaskedHottiee @julia_doubleday @eilise I had a physical job. Outside of healthcare, women in that age group usually don't. Any one of my health conditions might have been manageable but the combo wasn't - also not that uncommon. Disabled people are less likely to be employed & more likely to stop working earlier.
English

@HFiremoon @julia_doubleday @eilise The conditions may be common, but I don't think it's common for 30 somethings to be forced to retire due to medical conditions
English
@DTSaskatoon @AOgieglo Maybe we should look at where federal healthcare money has been spent once the province gets it. It isn't healthcare...
English

@AOgieglo The federal government has plenty of money for a gun buy back under the guise of public safety.
Although it is a provincial matter, perhaps the feds can send some more money to the provinces for healthcare.
This is happening across Canada.
English
@julia_doubleday @MaskedHottiee @eilise I 'retired' as a 30 something 2 years before covid. The medical conditions that forced me to stop working are pretty common in that age group.
English

@MaskedHottiee @eilise Right like so many ppl I know posting about how they’re having to take medical leave from their jobs as 20 and 30 somethings and taking a year+ off work and I’m like I’m so sorry about these fuckass doctors you’re seeing bc nobody I knew did this 10 years ago AT ALL

Ontario doctors are under orders to lie on your death certificate.
Not shade the truth. Lie.
Here it is. Official. In writing. From the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
"The illness, disease or disability leading to the request for MAID is to be recorded as the cause of death. The certificate cannot include any reference to MAID or the medications administered."

“Ever since some lobbyists…used [the] murder of a disabled child to build support for their cause, arguing that Robert Latimer did the right thing in murdering his 12-year-old daughter Tracy in 1993, disabled people have pleaded with Canadian leaders to listen”: @mssinenomine
Macdonald-Laurier Institute@MLInstitute
“History is jagged. When an exemption to homicide was first carved out of the Criminal Code to allow for MAiD, and then when it was expanded further, disabled people’s rights dropped to a new low in Canada,” writes @mssinenomine for Inside Policy. Read full Inside Policy article here⬇️
