I was on a robotics podcast with two founders yesterday and there were some striking takeaways: 1) Robotics is a sector you need to pay attention to over a multi decade timeframe; it will experience unfathomable growth 2) It’s a sector that will dwarf the adoption of AI over the medium to long term; the average household will spend more on embodied AI than they will on cars 3) The world today is built for humans, and cities built for cars. The world tomorrow will become dystopian and will be built around the evolution of robotics 4) Robotics isn’t just machines helping humans, it’s a complete replacement of the existing workforce Current curriculum in schools will become redundant. Teaching children agency and the ability to think independent / laterally will set them up for an ever rapidly evolving future Teach them to ask the right questions not spoon feed model answers 5) Musk mentioned this week that robotics will make everyone extremely wealthy. Many think this will be increased income, but in fact it’s driving down the cost of services to a fraction of what it is today to enable: - universal healthcare - possibly solving world hunger - levelling access to basic amenities These were just a couple of topics discussed; stay tuned for the full episode The robots are coming, and the landscape on earth (and other planets) will terraform to meet their needs, not ours.
