@JoshuaMohline @chadfelixg This assumes that the people making up the 51 and 49% groups never change which is simply not the case. Imagine a country where the President is the candidate the majority of the people he represents chose. Pretty simple.

@chadfelixg Folks saying the EC gives some votes more power than others - Imagine a world where 51% of people get 100% of wins. And 49% of voters get 0% election wins How is that more fair or more representative? The EC is MORE fair cuz 49% of voters win about 49% of the time & visa versa

What I see from the 'abolish the Electoral College,' argument is a significant lack of understanding of the current system with absolute certainty it is unfair.

@MichaelKarl29 @JamesSurowiecki One can disagree with the founding fathers. They were human and not perfect. Only 5 presidents have lost the popular vote and yet won the electoral college. 4 Republicans and 1 Democratic-Republican before the current parties.

@JamesSurowiecki You might as well say “Hi I am a dumbass that doesn’t understand what a republic is and I also think the founding fathers were wrong and I am smarter than some of the greatest politicians ever. “ the main problem is you wouldn’t be saying anything if a republican hadn’t won.

The replies to this are so funny: 4000 people making the exact same bad arguments I've heard my whole life, as if they've somehow never been made before. I know the arguments for the EC - that's why I said there are no good ones. The US has only one office that's elected by American voters as a whole. The fact that we have a system that in that one race allows a minority of voters to dictate to the majority and decide who gets the office is ridiculous and stupidly anti-democratic. We're always going to have it, but that's a bad thing.

@robertgraham “Give more weight to rural voters”. Call me crazy but I velieve this is wrong. Every vote should count the exact same regardless of where the person is voting from.

There is a good civic argument for the "electoral college". Almost all western democracies give more weight to rural voters, for the same reason as the original compromise when ratifying the Constitution. Without some counterbalance, rural areas simply become "colonies" of urban areas, with government serving the interests of urban areas over the wishes of rural areas. In almost all western democracies, the person leading the country is not chosen by a popular vote, but by representatives. Those representatives are in turn chosen primarily as local representatives for individual communities. The electoral college giving more voting power to some is not a violation of democratic principles, but the norm in western liberal democracies.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

@VickieforNYC No that’s not what this means. It means if enough states agree so as to ammount to the majority of electoral votes all those states would cast their electoral votes for the popular vote winner. The popular vote would decide the election, just as it does every other office.

Understand what this means. If high-population blue states like NY and CA produce significant enough turnout, the members of this ‘compact’ will turn over their electoral votes to the Democrat even if their own voters chose to elect a Republican. This will tremendously incentivize vote fraud in blue states to pad the numbers, as well as incentivize as much illegal immigration as possible for the same reason. This is also why Democrats so vehemently oppose Voter ID. The idea now is to get as many warm bodies into blue states as possible and get them onto voter rolls in order to steal national elections via the ‘popular vote compact’. The electoral college was designed specifically to prevent a tyranny of the larger states, and it has worked as intended for 250 years. But now because Democrat policy is so incredibly radical and unappealing to national voters, and because the party is incapable of moderation or changing direction, they’re simply going to undo the very foundations of the country in an attempt to seize power. Understand where we are here.

@TH3S0V3R31GN @Rightanglenews How would they be irrelevant? If this compact were to take effect the candidate who wins the popular vote would win the election. Every single vote across the entire country would count the exact same. As it is with all other elected positions.

@Rightanglenews This is cause for a new Civil War. "This compact goes into effect when states cumulatively possessing a majority of the electoral votes have joined the compact". So basically, get all states with Democrat governors to enter into this agreement and elections become irrelevant..?

🚨Heavy Handed removal of retiree benefits: A retired LCDR was just banned from all Navy bases and facilities in the Hampton Roads area for accidentally having a personal weapon in his vehicle at the base gate checkpoint. The retired naval officer has a Concealed Carry Permit. He also followed all directions provided to him by base security while voluntarily discussing his CC permit and noting that he had mistakenly had the weapon in his vehicle. Security suggested he turn around and come back without the weapon. He did so gladly and immediately returned back through the same gate (without the weapon of course) while the same security guards offered apologies for the inconvenience. The subsequent ban was an unexpected shock and a grave heavy-handed response to an honest mistake. The JAGs and Commander at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek have unilaterally removed all retiree benefits (except retiree pay) from an honorable man. He can no longer attend base functions, work a job on the base, use MWR facilities, or the commissary (military grocery store). Based on Secretary @PeteHegseth’s desire to ensure Second Amendment rights are defended by our Institutions, and that those exercising these rights are not unlawfully weaponized against, I pray this ban is quickly reversed.

My wife still masturbates after 35 minutes of penetrative s£x. My co-worker told me last week that he’s getting tired of his marriage because he finds his wife difficult to satisfy s£xually. After f0replay and about 35 minutes of penetration, she lies beside him and still masturbates. He said he’s not really bothered about the act itself, but about how long she takes. According to him, she continues for about 20 minutes even after they’ve had s£x. I asked if they ever discussed s£x while they were dating, and he said that anytime he brought it up, she would ignore it and say it was a worldly matter. But now that they’re married, he’s seeing a completely different side of her. I told him not to consider divorce because of this—that he might just need to put in more effort in the bedroom. But another colleague overheard us and said if it were him, he wouldn’t tolerate it at all. Now it got me thinking, is this really a problem—or just a lack of understanding between two people who never had the right conversations before marriage?

Frustrated to see celebrities with no knowledge or connection to our sport taking center stage. I've lived and breathed this from birth—my father before me, and I’ve actually been a spokesperson for F1 @IMS who truly understands and is a pro racer and knows what it means. This sport deserves genuine voices, not just hype from Hollywood who are watching Netflix.

I recently posted about Christianity being taboo in America and got some backlash. Here’s the thing. You won’t be persecuted for being a nominal Christian in America. In fact, America loves cultural Christianity. You can say, “God bless you,” and “Merry Christmas,” and wear your WWJD swag. That’s fine. But if you’re the kind of Christian who lives your faith; who defends Jews, calls abortion murder, is against “gender affirming care” for children, and p-rnography, you will absolutely be hated. Just the fact that people were mocking me for saying this demonstrates my point.

If you would like to practice your religion in peace and privacy, you are welcome to do that in the United States. But if practicing your religion means that others must submit to you and your beliefs, you can practice somewhere else. We will not change how we live in America to accommodate Mainstream Muslims.

Here are my thoughts on the Firefly news of the new show being animated: -I’m very happy for all the actors getting to reprise their roles - I think it’s a HUGE missed opportunity to not do it in live action since they’re still capable. - yes if the cartoon is successful it could potentially lead to more BUT why waste time waiting on a potential? We only get a short time on this planet. No one’s getting any younger. Just do a live action show like everyone wants. Thats my 2 cents. What do you think?

@ryankgill @worthitorwoke @thatstarwarsgrl Does it though? Coexist simply means living in peace with others. It doesn’t mean all religions are equally true or untrue, though in my opinion they are. If you can’t live in peace with people of another religion, that’s something you should self reflect on.

@KennethCardwell @worthitorwoke @thatstarwarsgrl It asserts that all religions are equal in truth claims and value. At the very least the former is extremely intellectual dishonest, as they do not all in fact teach the same things. Value-wise, one could be right, or none could be right, but they cannot all be right.

I think that the people in charge of the cartoon are progressive goons who are going to completely ruin yet another beloved franchise. I think that our X feeds are going to be filled with posts from morons telling us that "Firefly was always woke." I think that I'm beyond tired of remakes, revivals, and reboots. I think that, at this point, Hollywood is irredeemable and that, for better or worse, AI will replace 85% of them an hour after processor cooling becomes cost-efficient.
