Poor eleder people in Rwanda are given money by the government. In Rwanda, 1.6 million extremely poor and vulnerable people such as the elderly, disabled, widowed Rwandans, and other Africans living in Rwanda have been employed through a project called the VUP, initiated by President Paul Kagame. This project has lifted many people out of poverty. Launched in 2008 and still ongoing, the project not only provides employment but also supports participants with nutrition, hygiene, and savings training. Under the VUP, workers are paid daily, as the Rwandan government believes that waiting 30 days for a salary makes life harder. Rwanda has 14 million people.

The Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda clearly states that human dignity must always be respected ,whether a person is alive or dead. 📍Articles 10 and 13 emphasize that every human being has inherent, untouchable value. Even after death, a person’s dignity must be protected. Any act that disrespects or degrades a human body is strictly forbidden by law. As we remember the victims of the 100 days of mass killings, we honor #Tutsis who were targeted and murdered simply for who they were born as. We also remember #Hutus who were killed alongside their families because of their political beliefs, those who were killed for protecting Tutsis, and those murdered simply because they looked like Tutsis. Many of these people were killed together, at the same time, in the same places, by Interahamwe militias. Beyond those 100 days, testimonies from survivors and even former #RPA soldiers indicate that there were also large scale killings of Hutus carried out by RPA forces. Today, memorial sites across #Rwanda are filled with human remains. These include Tutsis who died in the genocide, Hutus killed by Interahamwe, and Hutus killed by RPA units called #DMI,even though the @RwandaGov officially claims these remains belong only to Tutsi victims. But regardless of identity, every person in those memorials was a human being. I call on the @paulkagame’s regime to stop this ongoing disrespect and give these remains a dignified burial, because: 👉Every human being deserves to be buried with dignity. 👉Proper burial does not erase memory ,survivors exist, books document the truth, and testimonies are recorded.
