SURPRISE SEA SNAKE!!!!🤯🐍 Whilst we were deep in mud photographing mudskippers, I noticed a shrimp goby jump infront of me (initial reaction) before realising it was being folllwed by a venomous Black-ringed Mangrove Snake!!!!! 💛🖤 These snakes are actually a type of sea snake and feed on gobies in mangrove lined creeks!! Best surprise ever!!!!!!

Cohabitation. A family of rainbow lorikeets (Trichoglossus moluccanus) sharing their tree hollow home with a brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula). The lorikeets and their two chicks didn't seem to bothered by their furry housemates. 📍Mt Martha, Bunurong Country #wildoz

Some of my favourite wildlife finds from 2023! ✨📷 As a busy year comes to an end full of unique experience and lots of wildlife, it was hard to choose my favourite moments! The main highlight (as you can tell from these photos!) was going to Thailand in May for a fortnight. The diversity of tropical forests is always the most breath-taking thing and I am really hopeful to visit more next year! 🌳 What have some of your favourite wildlife moments been this year? 🤔 For me, seeing a Sun Bear up close at Kaeng Krachan National Park was such a surreal experience! Even though this bear is known to hang around the campground to get leftover food, it was so incredible to see an endangered species like this up close! 🐻 Seeing my first Gibbon the next morning was also an experience I will never forget! Being my favourite animal since a kid, it was so special to wake up to the sound of duetting Lar Gibbons one morning! 🐒 As far as marine creatures go, the Greater Blue Ringed Octopus is right up there as one of the most beautiful inhabitants of Australia's coastline! I was so lucky to see a handful around Darwin this year, including this very colourful one! 🐙 And lastly, seeing a pair of Hornbills up close was a dream come true! These Pied Oriental Hornbill couple posed for a photo low down in Thailand and I couldn't believe my luck! Majority of the time I had seen them fly overhead into more dense forest! 🐦

Not ONLY does it LOOK like bird poop, it also SMELLS like bird poo! 😱🕷️ The Bird Dropping Crab Spider (Phrynarachne spp.) is a master of camouflage! 💩 This complete resemblant of bird poop goes both ways, to help avoid predation and ATTRACT PREY! By emitting a foul smell to deter most things from eating it, it also helps attract insects that are drawn by the disgusting odour as an unsuspecting meal! 😳🪰 How crazy is nature!?!??! Found in Cairns! 🌳

As we were winding down a 6 hour visit to Tagus Estuary today, my guide Bernardo Barreto said, “I think I found something really special” and he pointed at a line of pink blobs about 2 football fields away from us in the distance.
