What they are doing is undermining the profitability of proprietary businesses. Businesses that already run on a razor thin profit margin. You’re not making arguments, you’re proving how financially and economically illiterate you are. There isn’t a Canadian grocery chain in this country that runs a margin higher than 5.5%. All the hundreds of millions you see when the government talking heads badger them in the news is needed to show profitability for operating loans. Banks don’t give tens of billions of dollars to just anyone. The very people you think are “helping you” are the ones hurting you. And this will only make it worse.
