You’ll notice there is no look-back celebration or remembrance of this or virtually any of the other great moral victories from that era. It’s all been memory holed, a will-o'-the-wisp dimming out in the far distance.

I’d save 10% in phase 1 and 21% in phase 2. It last better than a poke in the eye but it’s a far cry from having them eliminated altogether. Again, if I purchase a TV, I don’t have pay taxes on it every year, so why is my home different?

While the idea and intention is correct — the median home value is around $375,000 in FL Less than 25% of FL homes will qualify — half (or more) of the homes that qualify are non-owner occupied This will eliminate property tax for about 10% of homeowners — which is still good But doesn’t really do much. Just get rid of all property tax

@RonDeSantis $32 billion in 2019 dollars is equivalent to approximately $41.68 billion in 2026 dollars. So a $20b gap.

Homestead limits increases in valuations at 3% or to the change in CPl, whichever is lower. So it stops them from doing that.

Taxes based upon valuation are ridiculous as an idea. I bought a home in Ft Lauderdale last year and the taxes will go up 50% because of valuation was suppressed by the 3% limit and the prior owner owned it for 25 years. The house won't consume any more than it did and in fact less because there are two of us instead of 5....less of everything. Complete fraud.
