Sequoia's @shaunmmaguire on Why Elon's TERAFAB is Underrated: "I’m gonna sh*t on a lot of other investors for a second." “I’m watching people come in with what I’d call 8th grade level education on the industry, trying to make definitive statements.” "I’ve been obsessed with semiconductors since I was a little kid. I literally bought Nvidia shares in the IPO in 1999. I was obsessed with semiconductor fab as a kid, got really deep into the chemical processes that go into making wafers." "People are assigning way too low a probability that it will work.” Hill & Valley Forum 2026 (@HillValleyForum) / @elonmusk . . . “I think it’s underrated because I think people don’t think it’s gonna work. Like I think a lot of people view it—and again, this is a systems-level problem—and I’m gonna just go get sh*t on a lot of other investors for a second. It’s been pretty wild for me as chips became all the rage again. To brag for a second, I’ve been obsessed with semiconductors since I was a little kid. I literally bought Nvidia shares in the IPO in 1999. I was obsessed with semiconductor fab as a kid, got really deep into the chemical processes that go into making wafers. If you think about the silicon industry, from the mid-50s to the mid-90s, the bottleneck was actually chemical steps. It was not lithography—it was making ultrapure wafers, which require 20+ chemical steps. Then it flipped to lithography, and EUV became probably the hardest single step in semiconductor manufacturing. But there’s all these investors that, three years ago, had never done anything in hardware, had never thought about semiconductors, that are brand new and think that they’re experts. I’m not trying to say I’m an expert—there’s a lot I need to learn—but I’ve at least been paying attention to this field for a very long time. And I’m watching these people come in with what I’d call eighth-grade-level education on the industry, trying to make definitive statements around what the bottlenecks are, what’s gonna be hard. They’re basically just parroting each other. It reminds me a lot of when people were trying to assess the likelihood of reusable rockets working in 2014, or Starlink working in 2019–2020, where everyone would tell me to my face: it will not work. Or when people were saying self-driving will never work. Especially with camera-only—where Elon was a contrarian doing camera-only rather than vision plus lidar. All these things fit the same pattern of people thinking superficially when they’re brand new to a field, then having strong opinions on how things are gonna work. And I think that on TERAFAB, people are assigning way too low a probability that it will work. I personally feel confident that it will. Timeframe—there are questions—but I’ve thought through all the different steps. Almost everyone, when you talk about TERAFAB, they’re like, ‘but what about EUV?’ And EUV is something they first learned about in the last 18 months. It’s comical to me."

@elonmusk @nima_owji On PC can we get a hover card setting to turn them off. You have to keep track of where your mouse pointer is when scrolling your feed with the mouse wheel. The slightest deviation into the feed and you're seeing profile cards.

@LeviSpires @shortword The problem is that the other 1/3 of every mile is driven by a family in the same car as the 2/3 of every mile. I may drive to work by myself but on the weekends I still need a car for the family.

@DirtyTesLa We're going to replace our X with a new one before they go out of production but I suspect that will be the last Tesla we own. After that we'll have to go with another brand. I'll never give up a personal vehicle. Really sad to see Tesla go this direction.

Not everyone gets to visit the two new advanced AP1000 modular reactors at Plant Vogtle in the United States. This is your chance to see one up close, bricks size. Real AP1000 units are now faster and more cost effective to build because of our modular design and mature supply chain. Want to try building a bricks-size AP1000 reactor yourself? We're giving away another five Westinghouse bricks sets to people who reshare this post. We'll draw names on Monday from everyone who reposted! Can't wait to share the fun!

@SenRonJohnson @SenSanders I'd love a private option. My wife and I are retired and her Obamacare alone is $1000 a month and covers nothing. We'll never meet our deductible so the insurance is basically just catastrophic coverage. We are above the 400% and get zero subsidies.

.@SenSanders is simply wrong when he asks, “Are you prepared … to sit back and allow over 20 million Americans to see a doubling of their health care premiums?” Calling all fact checkers! The TRUTH is that 22 of the 24 million Americans on Obamacare exchanges will continue receiving Obamacare subsidies as originally designed. The dollar amount of those subsidies will likely increase, not decrease, since they are tied to Obamacare’s skyrocketing premiums.   For people who paid nothing under the enhanced subsidy, asking them to pay a small amount is an infinite increase — but you can’t double zero. Fewer than 2 million Americans with incomes above 400% of the Federal Poverty Line will lose the temporary COVID relief subsidies that Democrats set to expire. I’m happy to work with Democrats to ensure that those people have affordable health care insurance options, but first they need to stop lying and admit that Obamacare is a miserable failure.

@BobbyJindal Are we going to get 12 month short term non-ACA plans back again? They were changed under Biden to only be 3 month coverage in a 12 month period. This forces healthy people with no pre-existing condition to pay for very expensive ACA plans.

@SawyerMerritt I may be in the minority but I have no interest in renting a vehicle every time I go somewhere. I also have no interest in renting out my vehicle when I'm not using it. I'm sure people exist who would do this, I just question how big that market is.

I'm a little surprised by this. I think the Model Y L would sell extremely well in North America, even with the advent of self-driving. Americans love their larger SUVs. Bigger families here want the Model Y L. There is a need in North America for larger all-electric SUVs at a more affordable price. Delaying the Model Y L launch by a year, or possibly not producing it here at all, I think would be leaving a lot on the table. There are going to be scenarios where a larger family with luggage wants to ride together in a self-driving robotaxi rather than separately in different Cybercabs. I think the Model Y L fits this scenario perfectly since it has the extra room and comfort features versus the current Model Y, but is cheaper to produce than the Model X.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@wholemars This variant of the Model Y doesn’t start production in the US until the end of next year. Might not ever, given the advent of self-driving in America.
