I had a 3-day regional leadership meeting last week. My boss in the room. 10 managers. Performance on the table. Hard questions coming. I had 20 minutes to prep. Here's what I did — and what came out.

Most managers waste the first 10 minutes of every meeting just getting aligned. You'd be amazed how many wealthy people that say they're rich do not have liquidity. Liquidity is defined by the ability at any moment to have liquid cash. You're not rich if it's all tied up in real estate. You're not rich if it's in jewelry and in cars and in boats and all that stuff. Sure. It's very hard to get 5 million liquid because in this market, that makes you $250,000 a year pre-tax. You have a family of four and poo-poo hits the fan in your world and everybody loses their job, you can sustain a family of $250k pre-tax. That's why it's the magic number.

@McKinsey I'm Generation X an open to immersive experience. I think of it more for fun, games and amusement parks. Where it is becoming more driven towards personal social life and eventually intimacy. Like everything on moderation fantastic. Too much becomes dangerous.

@HarvardBiz I've used these and like most tools there are pros and cons. It does lose that human intuition if someone's character is right for the role. That is big in leadership positions. Pros, screen a larger volume, replaces weak recruiters, and the often disconnect with a HR screens.

AI is allowing companies to conduct in-depth interviews with thousands of participants at a speed that was never achievable before. These AI-enabled interviewers can uncover not just what customers think but why they think it, capturing emotional nuance, real-world behavior, and candid responses. There were likely no major work impacts of GenAI in any large firm throughout 2025. We did not have agentic tools, adoption takes time, and everyone was experimenting with process. That is starting to change. Studies that show no impact in 2025 don't tell us much about 2027.

Amazon just cut 16,000 managers because of AI. Most people are talking about the layoffs. Nobody's talking about the managers who kept their jobs. They're the ones who learned to use AI before their company made them. That window is still open. Not for long. Are you studying AI? @amazon
