Anika Wells is on ABC news full of her usual smugness. She still hasn't paid back the $1,750 for her Paris dinner, where she slugged taxpayers $1,000 for dinner and another $750 for drinks. Utterly disgraceful. Her Paris trip cost taxpayers $116,000, including over $7,000 on food over 5 days.

Today the Senate will vote on One Nation's inquiry into fraud, waste and abuse in the NDIS.
The scheme was originally set up to care for the severely disabled, but it has since been abused and the cost has already reached $50 billion a year, on track to reach $100 billion.
There is a large number of unregistered providers (around 280,000) compared to registered ones (about 25,000), with support coordination costs exceeding $1.65 billion without clear participant outcomes, posing risks to scheme sustainability.
Immigration agents, some banned for misconduct, have been able to register as NDIS providers and allegedly defraud the scheme. Reports include billions for non-essential activities such as holidays and entertainment, and concerns that resources are diverted from those with genuine needs.
Some former prisoners receive large NDIS payments, how is this possible?
The scheme is not means-tested, allowing wealthy individuals to access funds, with some participants receiving over a million dollars and potential double-dipping with insurance payouts.
Wages under NDIS can be claimed up to $195 per hour, much higher than typical wages for similar services, contributing to inflated costs and sucking away providers from other important industries like aged care and veterans services.
The collapse of providers has left millions in unpaid debts, with concerns about foreign students improperly registering as service providers and sending money overseas without paying taxes.
@DrewPavlou and @PeteZogoulas, as private individuals, are effectively doing the government’s job by independently investigating NDIS providers alleged to be defrauding taxpayers.
Contrast their efforts—undertaken with limited resources and self‑funding—with the government's inaction. Despite extensive departmental resources, authorities have failed to adequately address widespread fraud that is visible and well known within the community.
That's why the Senate must establish this inquiry into NDIS fraud, waste and abuse or the severely disabled who are in genuine need will end up worse off.

What exactly can a state government do to increase fuel supply or reduce cost. That’s right it’s your mate Albo that can do that.
For less than what your mob gave the CFMEU in Victoria we could have two massive new refineries. Also Albo didn’t replace the strategic reserve we held in the US which was sold off I be June 2022 (ALP government).
That fuel reserve would have been handy now.
English

@Aussie_Dad5 @GregWoo36283273 The GST is raising about an extra $600 m per month on fuel at the moment. Just think of all the NDIS scams this can fund.

@OneNationAus In 18 of the seats that Lab won there was a swing towards lab. That is more than half of the seats they won. That's pretty impressive.

@Ashur90177439 @2worldsPodcast Most of ours comes from the Asian market. 60% of the crude comes from the Middle East. That’s why we are being impacted.
English

@2worldsPodcast We don’t import Australia’s oil from the Middle East that war should not affect us why the price gouging and rationing???

This week on the 2 Worlds Collide Podcast, I sit down with Senator Bridget McKenzie — Federal Senator and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development — for a direct conversation about where Australia is heading.
We talk about the current fuel situation, rising costs, and what’s really driving pressure on everyday Australians and businesses across the country.
We also dive into fuel security, government decision-making, and whether Australia is prepared for future challenges when it comes to energy and supply.
Beyond that, we unpack the broader direction of the country — from infrastructure and regional Australia to the growing frustration many Australians feel towards political leadership and long-term planning.
It’s an honest conversation about the economic and political realities shaping Australia right now — and what the future could look like from here.

Unions, energy costs and increasing environmental restrictions is what killed our refineries. They were all also aging and needing upgrades that made it not financially viable for them to remain operating. Successively governments offered subsidies but the ones that closed all declined.
Of note, all refineries in Singapore are classed as strategic assets and are therefore heavily subsidised.
English

@comical_engr We have 2 refineries, used to have more, 6 I think, but successive grubberments and unions have made it unprofitable and they closed down.
English

@AshPolitik The leader of the party in SA said success would be gaining at least one upper house seat. Looks like 3. Also, the ALP had a lower primary vote while One Nation increased its vote by 18%.
English

@TheConservati19 Is that for one cars tank though or stocking up around oh 300ish litres?
English

Fuck you Albo
Fuck you Bowen
Fuck you every ALP politician since 1979
Fuck you every Greens politician since 1979
Fuck you every moderate LNP politician since 1979
Fuck every person who voted for all of the above to industrialize this nation & not build its natural resources capital to make this country energy independent.
This fucking fuel receipt is on all of you. Bloody ridiculous!

English

@markje4 @TheConservati19 Most of them turned down government assistance as they were not economically viable due to energy and wage (union ) costs.
English

@TheConservati19 Six of the eight oil refineries that were operating in Australia were closed by conservative governments.
English

Put your political side aside. This has been a complete fuck up by successive governments (both sides) that have perused short term political gain.
Australia has so much sovereign wealth in coal, gas, oil, iron ore, gold, and so many other natural resources.
The whole country could be the “Dubai” of the South Pacific.
The sadist part is that us Aussies have voted these fuckwits in, over and over again.
English

@AmeliaBee7 Unoriginal, at least he didn’t copy a speech from a movie.

Hey @OneNationAus supporters only a fool or a totally brainwashed idiot would think that this is patriotism…

English

@GrumpyOleDave @the_lookoutpost @craigkellyAFEE @OneNationAus No it doesn’t, but they are definitely the balance of power. Enjoy that 😜
English

@the_lookoutpost @craigkellyAFEE @OneNationAus LOL 4 upper house seats out of 22 does not make them the opposition
English

To be fair, this has been happening for years.
Both major parties ridiculous pursuit of “net zero” so that Australia could save the world has meant nearly zero oil exploration, restrictions to gas and coal mining, closures of power plants etc etc.
giving away our resources for nearly nothing didn’t help.
all of this add to the cost of production and transportation.
And now higher prices.
Just remember, the population voted for this.

@Aliceh_1936 Everything has risen in price because of Trump's battle in Straights of Homous
