What are the theories over why Alexis MacAllister has struggled so much this season. Was a real motor last season, certainly among top 3 players at the club. Anonymous at best this time round. Played too much in previous years is one idea I've heard but not too sure.

xA without context is one of the most overhyped stats of all time. It doesn’t really capture ‘creativity’ the way people think.
The image below is a perfect example of how flawed xA can be-it overrates simple high-probability passes while undervaluing difficult & creative ones.
