@JarrodCMaloney Also framing blue button pushing as oppositional defiance or virtue signaling and not the simple fact that a majority of people might be hesitant to push a button that might wipe out 4 billion people

@Bronxborn1979 @mehdirhasan He probably means the British Navy is the reason Napoleon was unable to get a foothold in North America and was forced to sell the Louisiana Purchase

@mehdirhasan You as a foreigner don’t understand when the British defeated the French in North America the United States didn’t exist. The king’s joke makes no sense especially since Canada speaks French. You stupid cunt.

@ClickingSeason They are so terrified of making a mistake in a social interaction and being judged for it, they exist in a sort of PvP environment where the idea of having a polite conversation with a stranger is so inconceivable to them they will look at you like an alien for even attempting it

@ScienceWasWrong @S0BITTERSWEET Threepio was gray and brown when Owen knew him, and gold in ANH. Plus, Threepio doesn't introduce himself to Owen, just to Luke. At most, Owen might recognize his voice, but he may assume all protocol droids sound the same.

@VladTheInflator @ReallyAmerica You keep saying right now, you’re not taking into account that your mortgage will become cheaper than renting as time goes on and has a return on investment which renting does not

@knotbink You will have the same problems at 30 you do at 28, you will still eat breakfast every morning, have goals to work toward, form new relationships, learn new things, literally nothing is going change, 30 is just a continuation of the life you started in your 20s

The Adam Friedland Clavicular episode is one of the most fascinating cultural objects I've seen in my entire life. If you were to show this to an educated person in the year 2000 they would set themselves on fire.

@sailaunderscore All of this is beside the point that at the heart of every maxxer is a deeply insecure man trying to trick people into thinking he’s something he is not. Sean Connery simply was that guy. All of the plastic surgery and money in the world cannot substitute a masculine core.

The looksmaxxers have already: (1) Acknowledged this is true (status matters). (2) Incorporated it into their routines (statusmaxxing). (3) Are currently pulling it off as is possible for them (streaming and ascending looksmaxxing culture).

all the looksmaxxing guys would get brutally mogged by Sean Connery. on paper, he's not as good-looking as them. if you'd analyze his face with all these bs metrics he would get a high score, but probably not as high as looksmaxxers nowadays. he's not as lean. he doesn't have as much muscle. he doesn't have the perfect jawline. yet, in practice, Connery would look better. because looksmaxxing is inherently feminine. being too concerned about your looks is a feminine trait. it's not what we men want. Connery is the opposite. he's extremely masculine. if we just focus on the looks (there's obviously way more to him than that, insane charisma, humor, ruggedness, sophistication etc.), we can see that he doesn't look as "good", but he looks masculine. he looks hard to kill. thick skin, alert eyes, rugged body, ... he looks antifragile. on the other hand, the looksmaxxers look shallow. in fact, they ARE shallow. it's obvious that there's not much behind the looks. most wouldn't do well in a fight. it'S just the looks compartment they can compete in. they're too specialized. it's mainly a testosterone/DHT thing. plus, having a life that demands toughness. a life where you have to get through hard shit, but also enjoy all the awesome things God put on this planet. and if you add the other traits like charisma, humor, being relaxed, being skilled, looking into the barrel of a gun, all while laughing and having a good time, Connery moggs even more. but he's just one man I picked out to draw a comparison. could do it with lots of others too. the point is: the life makes the man, and the man makes the life. but you have to live the life first to become the man. do you understand?

the thing about getting too lost in the attachment theory sauce is the content mill feeds you videos like What Makes the Avoidant Actually Come Back? and you have to ask yourself why you’re watching videos on how to be un-dumped when you should be doing Literally Anything Else
