Over the past 100 years: The number of banks have gone from 28,000 to 4,500 The number of public companies in the US peaked ~8000 and has since shrunk to ~6000 Meanwhile the amount of regulation and regulatory agencies have exploded. Regulation, at the limit, strangles entrepreneurs, smaller businesses and public companies in favor of consolidators, large rollups and administrators. We need a regulatory reset.

core risk to all L1 tokens is the unbundling of blockchains, apps that are the most successful will always be incentivized to launch their own chains and maintain their end-user relationships honestly not sure how this resolves for most L1 tokens think about this quite often

@LeemoXD @UrbanKernel @xupanweb3 @GregusJakub Yes off course, but open gov would have to approve the swap first. This way only the best would get tokenswaps. Would also create a bottom value for tokens backed by a strategic dot reserve.

What do you think about creating a whole bunch of proposals for asset swaps between DOT and the tokens of parachains that have implemented open gov (in equivalent amounts, at current dollar value)? Like the Mythical swap Would create strategic alignment, capture value of ecosystem projects in DOTs value, and create a nice narrative Could also be done at a higher ratio (1:2?), but the swap could be for DOT bonds (via Hydration)

I have been saying that Parachains should be acquiring DOT and then either: - Delegating it - Making UIs for it so that their para token holders can vote in OpenGov, giving more utility to the token For like 2 years now, as people who DM'd me about your message have reminded me. I was probably either being very sarcastic, or I was saying that I think the other way (I.E. Polkadot/DOT governance voting on parachain refs is not gonna happen, and I really think it wont happen anytime soon, where as the other way around is very feasible in the short term). There is a reason I am more keen on Hydration than other paras.

so some may be thinking: what are we doing here and why are we doing it? i'll tell you why i'm doing it: it all started when i realized i'd have to pay $40 to send money to my own family - at the same bank of course fees have come down, but since then we've witnessed fractional banking failures, collapses, and unstable fiat currencies i've seen unbanking of people trying to earn a living being blacklisted by all major payment providers multiple times over multiple years, which leads to collapse of businesses and broken lives i've seen deplatforming of people's voices and businesses because a government didn't agree with what they were doing or how they chose to accept money, over and over i've seen credit card companies skimming fees off of small businesses, making their margins even tighter in already dire economic conditions we can't allow any of this to happen again - it all impacts real human lives, every day we can't let these people have the power - we need to take it, possess it, and be self-sufficient this and a million other reasons is why i'm in polkadot.

For the longest time I used the moonbeam bridge on their main page. I still actually like that bridge, but the ecosystem out grew it. Now I use talisman. I don’t do any crypto related things on my phone, and nova wallet doesn’t have a desktop version. That being said. I have seen the nova wallet posts about one click cross chain swaps.

- @wearetalisman (and all @Polkadot in general) needs to improve a lot the Cross Chain Swap experience: I've made a trade from DOT to USDT/Asset Hub 1 - It said 5m to process, but it took more than 15min to show up USDT in my wallet. 2 - There is no status or clue about what was going on under the hood. I was completely blind, worried about the funds could be lost. User's need to feel safe when they swap their tokens. My experience was far away from the feeling of safety. I am a crypto enthusiast, yet I felt anxious and nervous about this whole process. I hope we can improve this for end users, otherwise it is going to be really hard to get wider adoption

God help me please. I’m done, you guys can continue to be confidently wrong. JAM is a DA layer, Polkadot Doom did not execute on JAM because JAM is not a scalable execution environment, it is not designed to be used for execution. Doom ran on a rollup (L2) that settled to JAM (used JAM for data-availability). That’s the last time I will explain this. Too many people are just confidently wrong about everything and refuse to even read the documentation for the protocol they are arguing about. If anyone else has any issues go to the JAM GitHub, make an issue and ask the developers, they will explain it to you.

You're all good man - I think it's just semantics honestly. Polkadot people are just excited about JAM and being defensive. We think of JAM as a cohesive entity, where cores (what you are calling L2s) are just part of the overall machine since their computation inherits essentially the same security as the system overall I will point out, though, that L2s/rollups/parachains are separate systems that have their own sequencers/collators which submit blocks that the cores then reexecute. So it is somewhat confusing to call the cores themselves rollups

I had a great discussion today with many of the Polkadot developers in the JAM matrix channel. The conclusion was: > We can agree on that both run on L2's (Cardano + Jam), but each with very different security guarantees. Where "both" refers to Hydra Doom and JAM Doom. Specifically, with respect to Doom on Polkadot: > Doom was not executed directly on the L1, it was executed on an enshrined rollup that inherits maximal security of the L1. The above was mutually agreed upon. Overall, I think JAM is an incredible novel innovation in the domain of horizontal scalability and rollup-centric architectures. I congratulate the Polkadot team and @gavofyork on this massive achievement. Especially impressive is the introduction of coherency via global shared state across rollups, as-well as the degree to which enshrined rollups on JAM inherit security of the base layer (extremely high degree).

@Phil_uplc sir, thanks for engaging and taking all the time to respond to all of these comments 🙏🏻 very interesting to read Could you tell me: for Cardano partner chains, after the subset of SPOs reexecute blocks, does another set of randomly selected SPOs get assigned to check their work? As I understand ELVES, this is what allows polkadot rollups (or JAM services in the future) to inherit security that is essentially identical to being validated by the entire validator set
